So it begins.
I've been engaged for a little bit now. Well, five months. And I've finally started the ground work to put together a wedding. By ground work I mean that I've been pushing through ideas, and pictures galore trying to put together what I think I want.
I never was the girl who thought about her wedding all the time and had everything planned out by age 12. As a matter of fact I never even thought about marriage until my mister came along. So, this really is starting from ground zero for us.
I'm excited. Nervous. All of those things. But I'm really not going to stress out too much. We are both way too laid back to get worked up over something that is supposed to be a great day for us. Therefore, I'm not going to.
Once we had both decided on this our wedding 'theme' started to come out of the woodworks.
We are having a Vintage Chic Picnic wedding.
Which means an outdoor ceremony close to the reception at a family member's cabin. My dress, and my bridesmaid's dresses, will all be custom made for us in very vintage meets now styles. I love the dresses that are picked out on the board. That's what we're shooting for. Our colors are going to be Yellow, and Blue. Very bright and happy colors. The groomsmen are going to wear black slacks, and white button ups with the sleeves rolled up, black vests, and blue skinny ties. Very semi formal laid back ish. haha
For the reception we are having quilts made for us, along with some family ones that have been handed down, and they're going to be laid out along this beautiful lawn with picnic baskets and cute pillows for extra comfort. There will also be a few picnic tables dressed for the elderly and etc how would perfer not to be sitting on the ground.
There are trees everywhere around the reception, so we are going to hang mason jars at different levels and fill them with flowers, and sometimes candles, and other items to pull in some of the country aspect. I've collected some antique furniture that we are going to paint bright colors and use to display the deserts, guestbook, and other items.
Foodwise, we are going to have sliced watermelon, and other fruits. Lots of different sandwiches that are wrapped all nice to choose from, and other things like that. Lemonade. Sweet tea. Nothing really too expensive.
My brother and I are building a dance floor out of hardwood flooring that we have gotten our hands on, and we're going to hang lights around it. And my friend's indie acoustic band is going to play the whole thing for us, and he's going to dj when they finish their set. He's also helping me write and cover some songs to put together a cd to use as favors for the guests to take home.
Sooo, yeah. I'm excited. We're excited. I can't wait to dig my hands in on all the DIY projects. Because I'm pretty much doing it all myself. I still have to pick my bridal party, a date, all that stuff. And it's all just beginning. Let's do this.
