@nikkidrew90:  a ticket lawyer is going to be cheaper in the long run than paying the ticket and an up-charge in his insurance, so the only advice I can give you is to get a lawyer.

I agree with the PP — in order to really fight and win, you will probably need some legal advice.  Since every jurisdiction is different, it’s hard to get good solid advice on an anonymous board from people who likely live nowhere near you.

@nikkidrew90:  I am a lawyer, and I would not be able to give you any legal advice other than what I told you already–to get a lawyer.  As a poster has said, you need a lawyer who is familiar with the system where you live and who does traffic violations for a living.  A lawyer who practices in other areas will know almost as much as you do about traffic violations, so it is better to invest the money on a lawyer than pay an insurance premium for a looong time.

@nikkidrew90:  You could check out Legal Aid or similar programs – they usually offer low-cost legal advice and representation.  Sometimes there are income restrictions, but it might be worth looking into if your state has a program like this!  Another idea would also be to ask your insurance company – they don’t want to insure riskier drivers either, so they may be able to help mitigate the problem.

Good luck — and remember to have him double check those side mirrors in the future!  I hope he’s feel better soon !
