Hello, all! I’m new to WB (well, posting-wise…I’ve been lurking for a few weeks now) and I was just hoping that I might be able to get some help with picking out a carat size for my future e-ring. My SO and I have been together for three and a half years, and lately he and I have been talking seriously about getting engaged this summer.
I’ve fallen in love with the eng868 cushion cut halo design by MoissaniteCo, and have pretty firmly decided that it’s the one for me. I’ve been bouncing back and forth on what carat size I want for the center stone, however.
I wear a size 7, and I’ve been bouncing back and forth between the 5.5 mm (.85 carat equivalent) or the 6 mm (1.1 carat equivalent) and was just wondering if anyone out there had pictures of either of these sized carats on a size 7 finger?
Thank you so much!

Definitely the 6mm. If it were me, I’d even go as big as 8mm. 🙂

I don’t have any photos, but I wear a size 7.5 (though my fingers are quite long) and I think .85 looks perfect. I know there’s a chart floating around somewhere which claims to know what the ideal ct size to finger size is, but I thought the range it was giving me was way too big.
I think it just really depends on your personal preference and your build.

I agree with pinkshoes. Get the bigger size! With a size 7 finger, you can get a 1.1 equivalent without looking too gaudy or flashy. I have a 1.21 ct. diamond in a halo and have a size 6 finger which is great proportionally for my tastes.

I wear a size 7. My princess cut solitaire is 1 carat. So imagine it with a halo:
Also remember the cushion I do believe faces up smaller. So I think a 1.1 carat with a halo would look amazing on your finger size!

Here’s that finger coverage chart. This is for round brilliant cut though, so keep in mind that a cushion cut of the same caret weight faces up slightly smaller.
ETA: oops, just noticed that theres actually a mm size column too

Go big or go……….well don’t actually go anywhere, welcome to the Bee!
I voted for the larger one just because you can. You don’t want to be looking at your ring later on and wishing that you got the bigger one.

@CCthebakingbee: Hey I have the WED868 set. But i have a size 4 finger. But i reckon you should go the 6mm. Its a beautiful ring! Ive measured the outer edge with halo to be about 9mm accross on the widest part. Hope this helps. =) Here is a link on betterthandiamond with someone having that setting but not a 6mm, but with a 7mm mira so you know colour. I chose unenhanced for mine.

Thanks to everyone for responding and voting! 😀
@aguzmutton: Ooh, thank you! I’ve heard about possibly seeing some color in unenhanced moissanite at that size, and I was wondering if you ever saw any?

@CCthebakingbee: There is a slight warmth to it. But face up most of the time its pretty white and very sparkly. Here are some photos ive taken. The round set halo is just a CZ comparable to and E or F diamond i think. But you can see the moissanite is just a little yellow. But thats how i like it anyways. Picture was taken with flash on.

6 mm will look beautiful. big enough to be sparkly, but it won’t be too much in the halo.

Here’s a 1.1ct equivalent unenhanced RBC moissanite that I tried on recently (the stone is loose, hence sitting all weird in the prong). I’m size 7 too.

@CCthebakingbee: Hello and welcome! Go for the 6mm! I have a 1.15 carat cushion cut diamond in a halo setting and my finger is a size 5. I’m a fairly understated person and I don’t think it overwhelms my finger at all. People notice it a lot, but never in a bad way.
