Did anyone have a card box/ card holder that was NOT a birdcage, treasure chest, luggage trunk, mailbox, or faux wrapped present? Because these are the only ones I’m seeing out there and my wedding venue has very clean lines and is modern and I don’t feel these will work for the look I’m going for. Any suggestions?!

What about something like this?

…mine was a faux cake, not sure if that is what you are looking for though.<br />
You can always get a big box and wrap it in some nice wrapping paper with a hole on the top of it.

I’m curious about this as well, interested to see what people suggest.
@futuremrscrowe That is a cool design! Do you think it’s awkward that it’s visible how many cards are in the box?

futuremrscrowe: I love that! What is it? Where did you find it?

Peanut-Sue: It’s acrylic. I found it on ebay but if you google acrylic card box you should be able to find other options.

We wanted something a bit different too and spent ages trying to figure what to use. It was my husband who finally came up with the idea for the box- he saw the basketball display boxes at Michael’s and thought it would be cool to use for a card box. I thought it was too plain so I used some “stained glass window” paint to jazz it up a bit.

You could use a stainless steel mailbox. Use a vinyl decal in a modern font for “Cards”
Don’t limit yourself. Go to Home Depot, Target, Staples, etc- all sorts of stores and look at things with this in mind “Can this have a slit cut in it and can it be locked?”

I have seen people do a large vase for cards and decorate it either at the top or on the table with flowers. There is an example here http://www.secondcitysoiree.com/index/2012/1/10/not-your-typical-wedding-cardbox.html
(scroll to nearly the bottom)
I am doing a plain navy (one of my colors) box from the Container Store with the lid open and lining the inside with some silver sparkly wrapping paper.

Here is one more picture, in case you don’t like the flowers.

I’m planning to use a lantern. I love the clean lines and it can be a nice contrast for a modern space.
