We used a bird cage, and I was scared people wouldn’t know so I made a “Cards” sign.

No, but we put a card someone had given us previous to the wedding in the box so people could tell it was a card box (it wasn’t one with a slit, you could see down inside it). I wanted to put “thank you” but DH worried it might be a bit… (uh oh I’m going to say it) tacky. I think “cards” is likely nicer to put on it.

We didn’t write anything on ours and no one was putting cards in it!! My dad actually got up on the mic and said his thank-yous and then nicely mentioned it’s whereabouts… lol.

I think a sign is necessary, in my case, because my card box might look like a gift to some people.

@MsPensFan: And to combat what your mom said, guests will come to the wedding already having a card…you’re not ASKING them to go out and buy one that they haven’t already bought… 🙂

@MsPensFan: I think it’s very clever to have it wrapped like that with just a slit. We were only married about a month ago so my Dad is still trying to sort things out, but he believes that someone may have lifted a few cards. We only got 3 cards!!! It’s not as if we can go around asking people, “Did you give us a card?” but we know that 3 cards seems a little unusual. In hindsight we should not have used an open box at the back of the room….

I made mine out of a wooden box and like a small carrying box and I painted a monogram on it, I am going to place a sign next to it saying “If you would like to leave a card please open and place inside our little box that will start our future and from the bottom of our hearts we thank you dearly” Something along those lines.. I will probably think of something else but mine won’t be an obvious card box

we are putting our card box up at the front entrance with the guestbook and will have a friend sitting there. we are hoping people will know what it is. And if not we are hoping our friends will explain.

My card box is wrapped in fabric and looks like a gift too!!! I’ve settled on making a card sign AND making an announcement during the reception.
