I just want to see what is out there that is different!

    I mean UNIQUE.

Not to say that your classic solitaires (no embellishments), halos, or 3-stones aren't gorgeous!

I just want to see the out-of-the-oridnary designs. Especially if someone tells you your ring is different/unique/uncommon/unusual! A ring with a kick of of daring or bold design. I've seen a couple on here, but I'm really sure there are more...

I have a ring that many people have said is "so different," but they also say it's beautiful. haha. I like it though, and I really don't think it's that different or unusual, but that's just me.

So... this is a post to boast your NON single solitare, NON halo, NON 3-stone rings... something that you might not see every day.

    I know you're out there!

ETA: If you're not sure, feel free to show anyway ;)

Hmmm... I have 'peek-a-boo' or 'surprise' diamonds in my setting, but not sure that would count.

You should share your ring with us. :) Now I'm curious to know what it looks like.

Mine's three stone, but it's a sapphire, so I often get the comment that it's different/unique, if that counts? Still, I'm interested to see some of the rings - I hope gangqinja posts hers - that is a seriously gorgeous ring ;)

@rachelmichelle: Not sure! Go ahead and post it though =) Opinions of "different" can definitely vary

Haha I actually personally don't consider mine all that different, but I think some people might? I'll get a picture. The last one I had was kinda crappy

I guess that since I also get that comment, mine technically counts too then. haha. Man this is so subjective! >_<

From first glance it just looks like a normal solitaire, but once you look closer, it actually has 8 prongs (not 4 or 6) and has a surprise diamond on each side.

@yanamari:  Ooo how interesting! Is that a tension setting, or are there prongs in there?

ETA: Never mind! I can see the prongs now. :P

Haha my ring is very non-traditional.  It's a custom made ring created from my original promise ring and a pendant from FI's mom.  We kept the engraved word "Love" from the pendant on the side.  The jeweler was really against this particular design...she originally did that look where two stones kind of face eachother/overlap.  I hated that...this is exactly how I pictured it.  She had to remake it 2x.  I love love my ring.

@yanamari:  Very nice! It's not exactly "off the wall" (like, there's nothing about the design that makes me think "that's odd") but can see how people would call it "different," considering what most people seem to choose (you named them). You'll never get yours confused with your friend's ring, but it is a real beauty isn't it!

Looking forward to seeing more "unique" rings!

@rachelmichelle:  actually I liked some of the tension looks, but apparently they're almost impossible to resize, AND I didn't like how they sorta... got lost... in the setting. So this was one of the ones I picked out and liked. It sorta has that twisty tension look, but yep, as you saw it has prongs, so it's raised above the setting and stands out more. I knew he was going to get it though because he said he really liked it too, more than any other ones. haha. We're weird.

ohh THAT'S a surprise diamond! Okay, nice! I had no idea what that meant when you described it. So I'd say it mostly counts... definitely for that quality. it's a just a a somewhat secretly unique ring ;D

@yanamari:  In any case, your ring is gorgeous. Have you figured out what band you'll wear with it yet?

@rachelmichelle:  aw thank you! I really like yours from the side! You should post a full regular view as well ^_^ I really like the side design though. I don't think I've ever seen a surprise diamond.

We'll have to get something custom, I'm afraid =\ They tried showing me ones (would still need to be altered to fit) that put smaller diamonds on either side, like this:

but then it just looks like a regular 3 stone ring and I don't care for it as much. I'm thinking maybe something sorta like one of these... (either way, it'll havta be really custom =\ I like this twisty... wind-y look. I feel like a z-shape on one side just makes it look lopsided)

@joya_aspera:  that's kind of how I thought also! I'm like "This isn't really like... off-the-wall..." but I've gotten a lot off "that's so different" comments. Thank you! =)

i think it's unusual because my band is thicker than the E-ring, that's how we normally do it here in Poland, the most important is to have the band. Not everybody wears an E-ring. Still i'm planning to upgrade mine and make it look right with the band. For now i'm wearing band on the right hand and E-ring on the left.

I'm not sure if mine is exactly what I mean, but I do get lots of comments from people saying its different - but that may be because its not a round cut or princess cut....

    @icetea:

    I love your ring!

Here is mine- a lot of people respond with 'Oh, that's different', and then I never know if they like it or not. Never mind, I LOVE it!! I used to like the solitaire with diamond band, or pink side stones, but once I saw this ring, nothing else mattered!

    Lovely rings!

Mine is a yellow diamond in a 5 stone setting. I know it's not the norm.  No one ever really comments on it tho =\

Here's mine with the custom wedding band, and then the e-ring on it's own. It's a tension set, semi-bezel hybrid set in 14k YG with 2 cornflower blue natural sapphires flush set in the band. The diamond itself is actually set up very high and I didn't want my band to block it, so we had a keyhole wedding band made to fit against it. My friend is a well known goldsmith in my town and made this set for DH and I completely from scratch.

I LOVE unique rings! Traditional is nice, but these are so much more interesting and beautiful to me.

Mine is set in a little blob of gold. It was handcrafted in the NZ town we were visiting when he proposed (we bought it after). We met the lady who designed/made it and she told us the story behind it which was cute.

    I love my blob!

I wasn't so thrilled at the designer price on my setting, but after looking at thousands of setting online I couldn't find another like it. Also I think I've seen about 3 other green sapphires on all of the bee.

@MASPA:  I love your ring. I really considered a yellow diamond, but was afraid that down the road I might wish I had a clear stone. But every time I went back to the jeweler to have mine inspected, I drooled over the yellow diamonds in the case. I told my husband that if he ever needed gift ideas, I wouldn't kick him out of bed if he got me a yellow diamond RHR. Tongue Out

Here is my beauty!  It was from Wexford Jewelers, an independent jeweler that sells online (Etsy and their own website) with a brick and mortar store in Cadillac, Michigan.

@GFerg:  funny you say that.  I sometimes still think about a white stone, an emerald cut.  I told DH the only other diamond ring I ever want from him is a 3/4 eternity ring full of emerald cut diamonds lol.

People seem to find mine pretty different! My FH's maternal grandfather had it made for his wife in Hawaii- the ti leaves are supposed to ward of evil spirits and the like. It was handed down to FH's mother, who left it to him shortly before passing. I'm not crazy about yellow gold, but I've come to love this ring. :)
