I love weddings. I never thought of weddings until a few months before my engagement, and then it turned into full on OBSESSION. And it hasn’t stopped – that was over 2 years ago. My long-term plan now is to go back to school for business management and in the future open up my own bridal salon and potentially a wedding planning business. Keep in mind this is about 7 – 10 years in the future – my husband is in the Army so until then I’ll be moving around and not wanting to open a store front. BUT I am a long-term planner and know I need to start making moves now.
Sorry, I’m long-winded, but what I’m really trying to get at is some information from Bees that are savvy at this stuff either because they own their own successful businesses, or they’ve just been around it a lot. I need advice. I currently have a decent job bringing a respectable income that I’ve been with for over a decade. I know to get involved in owning my own wedding shop, I should probably have WORKED at one at least. If I were to switch to a bridal consultant, my income would be cut to the point of invoking tears. Has anyone done this? How did you manage/cope? Advice on how I could do this WITHOUT giving up my current 40+ hour job?
I want to work towards this more than I can explain. I surprise myself even in this desire. But I have a child and am hoping for more – I would be cutting the family income by almost half if I were to quit my job. How do I do this??? Who has been in my position before?
