louisa.g:  my husband and I were considering C Hotel by Carmens. We ended up not even going to view it because the woman on the phone was so rude to me. Granted, that was one woman, but it still tainted it for us. I did however have my prom at Carmens (not saying how long ago, lol) but I enjoyed it. The space was good and I remember really liking the food/not having issues with anything. Honestly, just ask for a tour of the wedding facilities and get them to talk you through a wedding day and how they’ll help you/what they’ll do for you. I don’t listen to reviews most of the time because I probably have a different opinion than the person posting. Good luck!

To put my own biased choice in, check out the Art Gallery of Hamilton – they were amazing and the food was incredible. We still get people saying how much they loved it (our wedding was July 2013) 🙂

louisa.g:  We booked our reception at carmen’s lakeview for Sept 20th 2015. We dealt mostly with a man called Charlie, who honestly was the most fantastic person. He was the only person to follow up with us after we visited their venue and ask us if we needed more info, and had more questions. They were also very patient with us before we signed the contracts. Both my fiancee and I are scientists and very detailed oriented and they were flexible and quick to respond to our concerns. Not sure if it is still an option for you, but for a reception we really like it and will be getting married thre 🙂

jojotheflame:  Excited for you! We honestly loved Charlie, he’s very straightforward, and very professional, we liked the space a lot, mainly because of the amazing view off the balcony! I can’t believe they are already booked up for next September! Fingers crossed this is your place! Also are you a Hamilton native? Do you have any leads on photographers? DJs? etc… My fiancee aren’t local, so if you have any tips that would be great!

I am not from Hamilton but I live in Milton about 20-25 min away from Hamilton. I believe the package had a DJ for a fee. I have never spoken to them so I ma not sure if they are good or not.  My fiancee and I have our photigraphy company but we are mostly focused on family portraits, newborns. I would be glad to send you some pictures but I have to be honest we have only done 1 wedding so far.Let me know. Where are you from? It’s funny because our original wedding date was going to be Sept 12 the weekend before yours. I’ll give feedback after my visit /meeting with Charlie on Sat.

Sounds great! Yes if you don’t mind sending me a link or some pics that would be nice. If not we can always pass them along to friends who want family portraits and newborns done. We live in Brantford, in the opposite direction, again about 20-25 mins from Hamilton! Yeah there is a DJ that can be included in the package, but I would like to interview a few first before settling down on someone, who knows we might go with the one that is included. Yeah I am not native to Ontario and the fiancee is from Ottawa, so hard to try and find reputable vendors!

Hi,

We met with Charlie and he was great. We just signed with Carmen’s and our wedding is Nov 14, 2015. Very excited ! I think it is a beautiful venue. So far away but it will come fast.

I’ll keep you posted as we get closer. Now e can rest a bit since the venue is booked.

louisa.g:  My best friend got married at the hotel and it was beautiful. The only thing I found weird, was that there are a few reception rooms, so there were other wedings going on so it was very busy (at the beginning and inbetween ceremony and reception). But other then that, the halls are beautiful and the food was good!<br />Also, I dont know how many people they had, but it was much more than 100 people! So you should be fine!

We viewed Carmen’s at Lakeview and decided against it.  We got married at Geraldo’s at LaSalle Park down the street and it was fantastic!

Nookie123:  Yes, the hotels are kind of a wedding factory, luckily the lakeview can only have one wedding at a time, that was really important for my FI and I, but we still wanted experienced wedding venue (at an affordable price. So the lakeview gave us that, I’m glad to hear the food was good! I’m excited to schedule our tastings!

MrsJM:  Geraldo’s is very nice indeed, and since your wedding the Lakeview has done some updates I really liked, that weren’t even mentionned on their site when we first looked at it. It’s been painted, and there is a separate lovely room for the cocktail hour. Geraldo’s is a bit pricey for me, but definitely a good option if you want something by the lake that is very pretty 🙂
