I am interested in the answers to this as well. There are two different kinds of pomander balls... Styrofoam and floral foam. I don't know if Styro holds water at all but floral foam does. I would love to know how far in advance you can make them.
could you use silk flowers? i made pomanders with flowers from the dollar stire and they look great! I thought they might look cheap and junky but you totally can't tell. add a little spray glitter and -awesome!
you could make them two days in advance but they need to be in a cold place. If I was you I would make them day before just to be safe.
totally agree with heather, i'd do it the day before if you were going for fresh flowers....
I love that look. Simple elegance. Not too much and not too elegant = = class!!! Bravo for you. I spoke with my florist and she said if you wanted to do them on Firday you have to keep them refrigerated. Can you do that?

@vistagirl - - thank you for posting that link. Its the best ever, I mean who isn't a visual learner when it comes to these DIY wedding projects OY VEY!!! Not to mention that is a great picture tutorial!!!
@ Jackie-O : thanks for the expert advice!! I don't think I would be able to keep them in the fridge tho :-/ I would be able to keep them in a cool place, so it looks like Saturday i tis. Now just to find time btwn getting my hair done, rehearsal & rehearsal dinner & an attempted massage. (Hope the massage doesn't have to go!)
I will try to make a sample out of silk so that I can show other people (i.e. my minions) how to make them & also to take to look at the tablecloths, so depending on how those look, I may just substitute--that way I don't have to make them all the night before -- although I won't have THAT many to make.
Here is also a video for making the carnation centerpieces:

Hi all,
To save money I am leaning towards doing my flowers myself, in this style:
I've seen the tutorial for making these and they seem easy enough. I just wanted to know how far in advance they could be made? Can that green Styrofoam thing that you stick the flowers in (you see I am not known for my green thumb!) hold water at all?
I was hoping to be able to make these like Friday during the day for a wedding on Sunday late afternoon. Is that pushing it? Anything else in terms of preserving the created poms that I should know??
