So I saw on stylemepretty today a photo spread and there was a bride holding 2 chickens in her wedding dress.  If you were having a wedding on a farm and you did this as an after Trash the Dress photo then maybe but really I think some of these photographers are just pushing the envelope way too much.  I just sat there going who would really do this....

    what do you think?

Here's the pic in case anyone wants to look closer ;) credits on the site above.

i think it makes for a cute pic, for sure, but definitely fits more in the TTD and less as a 'traditional' photo.

Thanks for posting the pic. I couldn't get it to upload.  And yes, def a TTD because you wouldn't want to pick up dirty chickens in your wedding dress pre-wedding.

Oh my, I'd be so afraid they'd poop on my dress! I personally think that's going a little far for unique shots, but hey, to each their own! You want chickens? You should have chickens.

I would never do that! Simply because I hate birds, I am slightly scared of them.  When I was young, my grandmother had chickens, and I was spurred.  Since then, I stay away lol

I would be afraid of bird poop as well.  Plus I have this slightly irrational fear that birds are going to peck me to death.

I wouldn't hold chickens like that even if I was in sweatpants.

I did lots of crazy TTD like things on my wedding day (hiking, laying down on sappy tree branches, rolling around in the grass, jumping across rocks in a river)... but I'm a total tomboy and relished having my dress hang in tatters by the end of the night.  As it stands, it looks just like new... Sophia Tolli builds a sturdy dress!

I totally understand that the vast majority of women would not do what I did... nor would I encourage them to.

for some reason I was thinking they'd be baby chickens, which I totally would have done. Hubby and I are animal people and I would have LOVED including animals, even if it got my dress dirty.

On a totally unrelated note, that picture slightly under it, where the couple is on the yellow bike is SO CUTE! I love the cans on the back lol

Chickens scare the crap out of me, (yes, I'm strange), but I actually think it's a gorgeous photo. I'd love to have the guts to wrangle chickens in a wedding gown. lol

I saw that photo earlier today and had to laugh--as a country girl, all I'm thinking is "Does that girl realize that chickens poop, peck, scratch, and flap around?" Bleck! Might as well hug a cow while you're at it.

... maybe someone should do a TTD session trying to catch a greased pig. And milking a cow.. . I am TOTALLY a city girl, but this sounds like a TTD session that I would LOVE! Mostly because I like to pretend I know about country stuff. But I still FREAK OUT when I find out someone actually owns a tractor. That's so cool!

@KM: Haha! You should visit sometime. Around here we have lots of farmland, farmers and the Amish. Perfect place for a country-themed TTD. :P

It's a beautiful photo. I'd love to know what the sentiment is behind her doing it as a traditional shot. Maybe she's very close to those chickens?

As a girl that grew up with no less than 15 chickens at anytime, I feel like I have to defend those poor chickens :). Chickens are actually pretty clean as long as they are free-range.  The parts that get the dirtiest are their feet and their butts, and that usually happens during the winter time.  Oh and a few more notes! The majority of chickens are not evil, nor are they pooping-machines.

This picture is kinda awesome. At first I thought she was holding some kind of fluffy fur wrap or something, then I saw the chickens and cracked up.

when I first saw the title of the post, I thought it was about "chicken cutlets" being put in the bra to add cleavage or something.  Never thought it could be about real chickens!

I think it's a cute pic.  I'm not sure how I feel about chickens, but I guess if I wanted a picture of chickens and my dress I'd take a picture of me sitting and then photoshop a chicken on my lap later.

It kinda reminds me of those Easter pictures taken with rabbits or baby chicks.  If someone had one of those pics from when they were a little girl of the baby chicks and the frilly Easter dress, having a picture in a wedding dress with "grown up" chickens might be a cool idea and put them in a scrapbook together.

lol, it's cute, but the concept is totally ridiculous. Seriously, a bride with a chicken? If my photographer asked me to hold some (not baby) chickens and pose, i'd think she was kidding.

I also saw this today and did a double take while scrolling through my reader. WTF! I don't understand it at all and even if it was a trash the dress shoot or something, I still think the detail on that dress is WAY too pretty to trash, period.

The chicken's feet look really clean, I'm guessing someone thought about the details for this shot. Wipe off the chickens feathers and feet, pick a couple calm chickens that are used to being handled. I would do this shot!

I did a farm wedding last year where the bride bent down to pet her goat while we were taking pictures.  The groom had proposed to her via a goat (it had a ribbon tied around it's neck and "Will you Marry me?" was written on a tag hanging from the ribbon) so they were special to her.

I think the chicken picture is awesome!  The simple down home style of the chickens in contrast with the fanciness of the dress is fabulous.  It's a picture that stops you dead in your tracks, and I'm sure that's what the photographer and the bride were going for :)

I LOVE that photo!  I picked up both of my dogs (25lbs and 65lbs) before the wedding in my dress (me doing it on my own, not photographer or anything)  People GASPED loudly each time, but I figured "what the he**, Ill only wear it once, I can use a shot wipe if I have to."  Luckily no marks :)

I too love the contrast of the chickens against the delicate dress, makes for some striking photos.  I have some that people might consider far out too, but thats what I was going for

At our ceremony location, there was a luncheon right before our wedding, and they had a bull you could sit on and take photos with. I totally would have hopped on, but he was gone by the time our ceremony was over.

You only get to wear your dress once, ladies-wear the heck out of it!
