I think the 4 will be fine.  I would have probably gone with the 2.  I had a Casa dress and it ran pretty true to size.  My mom had to let it out at the ribs a little but that’s it

What size was the sample you tried? I have Casablanca in my store and they run quite true to size. Here’s the Casablanca size chart for comparison.

    Pepper15:

Better it be too big than too small from your measurements a 4 was probably wise, it is easier to take in a dress than to let it out.

I’m a casablanca bride too 🙂 I had to order my dress in a size 14…my bust and waist are both a size 8 but my hips are between a 12 and 14 so I had my dress ordered according to the biggest measurement.

I ordered a Casablanca ballgown and had to order based on my largest measurement, which was 4 sizes larger than my street dress size (whomp whomp). Not sure what your consultant was thinking!

Pepper15:  I ordered my dress on Oct 25th and was given an estimated ship date of the beginning of March 2015. The lady at the shop assured me that it would be easy to take in the dress rather than let it out… Which I hope is true considering the bust needs to be taken in by 3 sizes lol.

I have this dress.  At the shop, they tried to sell me their sample because the top fit me perfectly while the hips were a little snug.  They showed me the seams and it is super easy to let out the dress from the hips and down.  The top part has a lot of structure and built in bra/corset and is much more complex and quite tedious for alterations so I am not surprise they did not order on the largest size pertaining to the hip region.

I did n’t purchase the dress at the shop because I found the same dress with the exact same measurements for much cheaper.  I hae been working out in hopes that I wont need to let it out. I also found that the Casablanca tend to fit to true US size from my experiences.

your custom dress sounds like it will be gorgeous.  Especially with the custom straps.

Your consultant told you this or the seamstress? I wouldnt trust a consultant’s advice on alterations. If the seamstress things that your particular dress is hard to take in at the bust and would rather you order a size 2, trust her.

I think 4 is a good compromise. Normally I’d agree with the consultnat not to worry about the hips too too much but your dress is tight at the hips, so it really does matter.

I was lucky enough to try on a size 10 sample dress on my Casablnaca. Everyone could agree that it was just a bit too big and I should order the 8. They didn’t even measure me. 🙂 I was a little worried, but they were all in agreement. And when it came in, they were right! I honestly could have worn it out the door like that. But the alterations made it fit like a movie star. 🙂

Ahh your dress is going to be GORGEOUS!  You look amazing!

My measurements are quite similar to yours and I had a different Casablanca dress.  I, too, was nervous about the hips and having to take in the bust.  Went with a size 4 and it all worked out – didn’t need to let out the hips at all, and the bust had to be taken in a few inches.  So, I think you’ll be fine with a 4!

Pepper15:  LOL I recently was in a wedding, and my bridesmaid dress was 6 sizes bigger than normal (I have waaaay too much booty for non a-line skirts!), so I was kind of expecting it. Still kind of hurts though!
