I ordered my Casablanca dress (#2017) with alterations to add a sweetheart neckline and a lace up back, and the bridal store charged around $230 for both.

I ordered Casablanca 1955 with the fabric of the Casablanca 1975 and custom length and the addition of buttons on the back. I can’t remember the exact amount right now, but I think the changes were just a couple hundred dollars.

I love sweetheart necklines, I’d add them to everything if I could! I’m having my first dress fitting on Friday, so I guess I’ll find out how much it’s costing then…

I ordered my Casablanca 1975 with a sweetheart neckline, as opposed to the original v-neck, and the bridal store only charged me $80. I don’t know why it was so inexpensive, but that was the only change I made, so maybe that’s why.

Hello, other Casablanca brides! I ordered #1827 w/the sweetheart neckline and custom length. The $200-300 cost of altering your bust to a sweetheart sounds about right. The majority of the cost from them needing to rebead that part of the dress by hand (this is the reason I went for the custom length, it was cheaper). I know that the bust of my dress will need to be taken in, so I’m hoping it won’t be enough to need rebeading which will keep it cheaper.

@STBMrsRoss – Casablanca 1955 was the dress I tried on before my 1827!

@mrstj2b: Nope, no pictures – unfortunately, the bridal shop I bought it from doesn’t let you take pictures until the first fitting, so I won’t have any until October!

@jaimecakes: The dress just came in last week. I took pictures this past weekend. I’ll post some for you when I get home. It turned out perfectly and fit perfectly.

I ordered the 2034 with a sweetheart neckline and the bridal boutique didn’t charge me anything extra.  I wonder why…not that I’m complaining.

Here is an excerpt from a conversation I had regarding alterations to my Casablanca 1975.

The consultant told me that to remove the straps, and keep 1/4 inch of lace around the front and back was only $30.  She said “since the manufacturer only charges $30, I only charge you $30, but some salons will charge up to $150”

Very strange. I also got my straight neck changed to a semi-sweetheart on the 1978 and they charged me around $60 ot $70, if I remember correctly.
