I hosted a Vegas themed party too.
I got red and black ballons for the the tables, bought mini (baby) cards and sprinkled them on the tables. I also got red and black table covers to keep with the theme. Then named the tables diffrent hotels in vegas, just for fun, there wasn't assigned seating.
You could have everyone dress up like "high rollers" (i.e. just really dressed up).
Hope that sparks your creativity!

Hi Bees!
I'm in a bit of a last minute scramble here. To celebrate the upcoming birth of my best friend's second baby, I'm hosting a surprise casino-themed blackjack afternoon party at home. I need creative ideas for food, decor, favors, games (besides blackjack/poker) and knew the creative minds of the Bees would yield some fun suggestions. Here's what I've got so far:
Food: Cookies shaped like diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades. Trying to find petit fours that look like dice, otherwise will make cupcakes and decorate. Need appetizers (non-dessert) ideas.
Games: Anything other than blackjack/poker? Maybe betting pool on baby's due date?
Decor: Colored Xmas lights. Maybe Vegas themed movies on the TV in the background (the Hangover? need other ideas...)
Favors: Chocolate poker chips or lottery tickets?
Thanks in advance!
