I've seen a lot of photos of weddings (in magazines, etc.) where they guys where khakis and navy blazers. That might be a nice inbetween solution, since you don't want it too casual. Or, you could go with light colored suits. I have a friend whose wedding was in their backyard (it's huuuuge!) and her hubs and the other guys wore khaki colored suits. They looked very nice, but not out of place or too stuffy. My wedding was outdoors, and I made they guys wear tuxes/black suits, but it was pretty close to formal as you can get outdoors. And, I told them that once pix were done, they were free to ditch the jackets.
Informal, then you can do whatever you want. khaki pants with a white button up and they all have the same tie? I love the destination wedding suits, they're way more casual.
In one outdoor wedding I saw, the groom wore a khaki suit, white shirt, and khaki-striped tie while the groomsmen wore khaki pants, light blue shirts, and navy striped ties. They looked really casual and classy.
For my good friend's wedding, all the guys wore khaki pants, the groom wore a white shirt, and the groomsmen wore blue shirts...and all had their sleeves rolled up. They looked good, too, but very informal.
Let me know if you'd like to see pictures!
No, they don't need to wear suits at all! At a wedding this summer the groom & groomsmen wore linen pants (from banana republic i think) with white linen shirts (think cuban). Only the groom wore a blazer for the ceremony. They looked great!
At our wedding the guys will wear suits for the ceremony/pictures and then they're changing into khaki's and short sleeve button up shirts.
If anyone has links to pictures of weddings without suits it would be helpful. My mother doesn't believe me that it has been done! :)
Last year my soon to be brother in law had a very very small out door wedding in his family garden. He and my FH wore light khaki colored suits from J Crew. They we're pretty cheap and FH has gotten a lot of use out of the set since. He wears the pants to work (office job) and has worn the whole suit to weddings more then once.
It was casual with out "too casual" and still looked great.

Our wedding is going to be outdoor and pretty casual. The reception is indoors, but the actually ceremony will take place outside on a terrace.
Should my fiance and his groomsmen wear suits? It might look silly, especially if it is warm outside. I was thinking that maybe they could wear nice dress shirts, and no ties. But I don't want it to look too casual...
Any ideas?
