LOL my cats are at my parents' house now, but when I lived at home, our cats did this ALL the time!
My cat doesn't do this because she has her very own bed and doesn't sleep with us. She does; however, block the bedroom door before we go to bed because she wants to make sure I feed her her wet food before I close the bedroom door on her. She literally races to the bedroom door and will lay in front of it to make sure we can't get by without tripping over her :-/
Yep, I have three that will do it if I let them. That's one of several reasons why they aren't allowed in my room.
I always say if it weren't for FI I'd be a crazy cat lady. I feel too bad making her move, so I lay still until I can't feel my legs like an idiot.
Mine have only ever done that as kittens. Once they become adults, they don't want to sleep with people, at least in my experiences. Every cat is different and has their own personality, so you can't judge all cats on what a percentage do.
No, but mine will sleep right on top of my chest so I can barely breath and if I roll over onto my stomach he will sleep on my back!
No, ours isn't allowed on the bed. He used to sleep at my feet, but a few nights of getting kicked made him realize that the couch downstairs was more comfortable!
Ours does that in the winter. She loves to snuggle right in between DH's knees.
He doesn't do it to me, but he always lays right between my husband's legs and puts his front paws on his butt (DH is a stomach-sleeper). Our other cat loves to snuggle in behind my knees in the winter.
We have to lock our cat out of the bedroom at night or she keeps me up all night. She sleeps on my back and is constantly readjusting!
Yes, my cat Felix will start off at the bottom of the bed by FI's feet, then he will make his way up to my legs, and cuddle there, if I move, he moves with me and then re-adjusts his position. If we try to kick him out, he'll just come back again lol
One of mine alternates between that and up by my side with my arm around him. The other sleeps on my pillow.
My kitten (and my previous kitten) sleeps on my head/pillow. I think she actually gets more of the pillow than I do.
Though mine no longer sleep in the bed with us, my youngest liked to curl up in a ball next to my head and clean herself...nothing worse than the sound of cat tongue in your ear while you're trying to sleep...
One on the pillow, and one between my legs. The one on the pillow is 8. I don't feel bad about tossing her off the bed. The one between my feet is 18, and every night as I lie there sleepless I think to myself: "this could be her last night on earth... just leave her alone". So I do. And she lives another day lol.
we finally had to issue a "no cats in the bedroom" rule because our female cat would lay right where my legs are supposed to go so I would have to sleep spread eagle and our male cat would sleep curled around DH's head! It was difficult getting good sleep because neither of us could move!
My bigger cat Peter does this, but when we're sitting on the couch. We have two ottomans so our legs are always stretched out in front of us, and the split second you sit down, he runs and lays down on your legs. If my laptop is in the way, he starts yanking on the threads of the blanket with his teeth (I always have a blanket over me) until I move my laptop off of my lap so he can have his spot. Jerk.
My cat just loves to play with my feet when I fall asleep... so I wake up and move her. Then she lays on them and I get hot so I wake up and move her again. Then she crawls between my legs and I move her again.... most of the time she's done bugging me after the 3rd move but this is everynight! Gah!
thanks :) this is seriously an everynight/morning thing that he does. He scratches the side of the bed and jumps up and lays like that. But I wouldnt have it any other way our other cat Chloe lays at the bottom of FI's side haha . I turned him into a cat lover :)
We don't allow our cat to sleep on the bed with us - I can't stand being touched while I sleep! We continuously kicked him off the bed until he got the picture - now he just leaves us alone and sleeps on a blanket in another part of the bedroom.
I don't sleep with her, but if I lay on the couch, my cat likes to lay on my chest as close to my face as possible.
@amyddlz: Love him! he looks just like my cat!
My cat switches up her sleeping habits about every 6 months or so. When we first got her as a kitten, she developed a habit of pushing my head off my pillow as I slept so she could lay smack dab in the middle of it. Then she started sleeping next to my stomach - I'd wake up and find that I was basically spooning her. It was kind of cute. Then she moved on to sleeping between my legs - usually around my knees or calves. Then she got over me completely and started sleeping between FI's knees. Now she sleeps in the other room most nights because there's a chair in there that she likes. It actually makes me a little sad not having her with me every night.
Cats are nuts. I sometimes wonder exactly what goes on in their little brains to make them do the nutty things they do, including random or bizarre sleeping habits.
Oh, and not to threadjack, but on the subject of crazy cat habits dealing with beds, does anyone else's cat feel the need to jump up on the bed the second after you've put on a new sheet and roll around on it like a total spaz?
no but when I come home with alot of groceries they both walk in front of me because they wanna play in the bags!
My cat actually sleeps in between FI and I! It's 50% adorable, 50% annoying because I roll over to cuddle w/ FI and there is a kitten there instead!!
My big male cat has to crawl between my legs and nest down, chattering happily at me the whole time and I just dont have it in my heart to move him. He also has to be there when I make the bed in the morning to sit under the blankets as I fluff them (he likes to make little caves and cocoons in blankets and sometimes I have to admit that I crawl into them with him because it makes him so happy.
Yes but we dont let him sleep in our room anymore. He has his own bedtime and goes to bed in our 2nd bedroom. He actually has gotten so used to it now he'll obey comands like "its bed time - go to bed"! He does great with routine and its worked out best for everyone.

My smaller cat sleeps between my legs and my fat cat sleeps right behind me (I sleep on my side) with his nose buried in my hair hahaha. I eventually have to kick them off because I can't move!
We don't allow our cat in our bedroom due to my allergies, but when I'm laying down on the couch sometimes he will lay in between my legs.
Our big, heavy cat sometimes likes to snuggle between my legs, but more often prefers to sleep on my stomach, or across my lower back if I'm on my stomach.
He sometimes tries to go to sleep on my chest, but I have to nudge him down, because he's heavy, and I can't breath. I'm also mildly allergic to him, so having so close to my face just doesn't work for me.
Every night! She'll creep up, and I'll kick my feet if I haven't fallen asleep yet. Then when she thinks I've fallen asleep, she goes right back on my legs. Then she wakes me up in the morning meowing and licking me. It's so annoying.
My cat used to do this. She seems to find new ways to sleep every few years. The past several years have been the most adorable, though. She has to lay on my arm cuddled up beside me at night.

When you lay down to go to sleep does your cat lay smack in between your legs/knees so there is literally no way for you to be comfortable? You'd think after having my cat for 14 years I'd be used to it, but it drives me bananas every night (but of course I feel too bad moving her)!
