So my cat is insane, I’ve mentioned it before. He’s just the weirdest cat. I’ve had tons of cats in my life and never before have I had a problem with their litter training.
My cat, now a year, has suddenly started pooping in our dogs crate EVERY CHANCE he can get. Fiance is really forgetful about keeping the crate closed and anytime he leaves it open, in goes the cat and out comes the poop.
He doesn’t poop anywhere else. And if the crate is closed, he poops like normal in his litter box. No peeing problem.
PS. Do I win the award for using “poop” the most times in one post?

My cat(s), I’m not sure if it was just one or both at the time, took to pooping in our office for some strange reason. I have NO idea why. As long as we kept the door closed and they couldn’t get in, no problem. If Fiance forgot and left the door open, ewwwwwwwwww. I think they did it because we had gone on a long roadtrip and Future Brother-In-Law was housesitting for us, so they were expressing their displeasure with their abandonment. It’s not like Future Brother-In-Law is a bad guy, they love him, they just love us more 😉
Maybe your cat is mad at your dog? Or mad at you for having a dog or giving the dog more attention? I know there are products on the market for keeping cats from spraying or peeing in different areas, maybe you could try one of those. Also, put a sign on the crate for your FI!

I think it’s a territory thing…my cat pooped on my airmattress one time when my sister came to stay…she brought her dog with her and my cat pooped on the dog hair that was on the air mattress. I also had a friend of mine stay with me one summer and she had a cat…well one time my cat pooped under the coffee table…i assume its where my friends cat was sitting for awhile or something…
your cat really might not like the dog or something…either that or they are trying to claim the dog crate as their own 🙂
yes…she might be a crazy territorial cat…

It’s funny because our cat LOVES our dog: nurses on her, licks her clean, tries to cuddle her. So you’d think the cat wouldn’t poop in our dog’s crate, right? He’s never pooped on any of her dog beds that we lay around.
I think you guys are right though – maybe he needs more cuddle time.
Bahhh. Luckily he doesn’t pee in there, that smell would stay forever.
