Ohh we have one! Our cats are obsessed. We got it from Petsmart, and they've been using it for 2 years without incident. The bottom velcros to the window ledge and little legs press up against the wall to support the weight. They love it!

@blueshoes - I guess maybe I should go to Petsmart and check out what they have. The only one I see on their website is a hideous blue color that I'm not okay with. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754969#RatingsDetail
is this basically what you have, but a different color?
See the other picture below on their website? Of the cat on the cream ledge? That's the one we have. I'm guessing they must come in two different colors, because I'm not ok with that blue either haha

When we lived in an apt. our neighbor had one for her cat and it was on it ALL the time.
Those are really cute. If we had any windows without a ledge, I totally buy one. Sorry I don't have a recommendation for you...
We have bay windows, so the cats lay on them ALL the time. When the blinds are down, they just go behind them so they can still see out the window. I have heard good things about the ledges in general, but don't know any specific brands or anything. Sorry I'm not much help!
This is one of my boys napping in the sun. While, TRYING to nap. I kept taking pictures because he was so cute laying there!
I have the same one as Blueshoes...my cat LOVES it. We also got it at Petsmart.
Thanks ladies! I will be heading to Petsmart today...hopefully they will have more options than the ugly blue one on their website!
I know my cat is going to be so excited when I bring one home :P
Oh wow! I've never seen/heard of these things. What a great idea!
I just wanted to say that I think that's the most awesome idea I've ever heard. Wow! You really can get everything nowadays! ;)
FI and I had an issue with the cats wanting to look out the window and they would scratch the brand new window ledge he made.
Since FI is handy and I have great ideas we spent 3 hours on Sunday and 2 hours on Monday making this:
...I refuse to spend $200 on something exactly like it online or at a pet store...it cost us less than $60!
The cats LOVE it. Now they don't fight over window space and they have 3 different textures to claw!
@Soon2beeMrsM - Holy moly! That is amazing - I can't believe you guys made that yourself! Your cats look like they are loving it!
Tulip - If you didn't find one you like at Petsmart I just saw a little clip on either HGTV or the DIY Network about how to make your own. It looked good and seemed cheap and easy to make. And you could easily move it from one window to another so it would be ok if you're renting. I'd find the link for you but the work computer blocks those websites....
@Tulip- Yep they love it and the best part is it is 100% sturdy (unlike the ones we saw in stores) and they can claw the $hit out of it and nothing will get ruined.
@Soon2beMrsM: You should sell those!!!
My husband desperately wanted to get our kittybabes a kitty condo. I was against it. They are so expensive! So he secretly bought one on Ebay for 1 cent! Yes, 1 cent! (Caveat: Shipping was $100.00).
@blueshoes - So I bought a window seat at Petsmart last night. It looks just like yours and I think my cat will like it. One question - do you ever take it off the window at times? Is the velcro attachment on the windowsill meant to have the seat taken on and off? - I'm afraid if I do that I will wear out the velcro or something.
How does the velcro hold on to the window w/ the weight of 1 or 2 cats on it?
The velcro helps but the main source of support is the legs underneath it that curl up into the wall below - see in the pics above how it has that? I know it seems weird, but it's actually sturdy.
ETA: Plus, I think it's like industrial grade velcro or something :)
Interesting --- we bought one of those ugly climbing contraptions to replace this yellow nylon house that our one cat sits in. he bites, shreds, and acts all fat in it to the point that it's probably not long before the bottom drops from under him. So we bought the carpeted thing to replace it, but it's downstairs now and they LOVE It downstairs. So now, i need something for the window area where the yellow toy goes. if this thing works, i'm going to get it! it is way better looking than a lot of stuff out there.. Thanks!

Does anyone have a cat window seat on their windowsill for their cat? We recently got new windows installed, and they took up a lot of the surface area of the windowsill so now my cat can't lay on it anymore. My poor cat is so upset because she loved laying on the windowsill. Now I have to get her one of these cat window perch things. Can anyone recommend a good one for me? It looks like I'm probably going to have to order one online and it's hard to really see what is good quality or not.
