Hotels in Catalina are booked well in advance so I suggest blocking rooms. Hotel Metropole is way better. You might even want to try condos in Hamilton Coves they are pricier but people can stay together if they want !!!

I’m getting married in Avalon as well in June 2010 so here’s what I got. Book early, no one blocks rooms, Catalina Canyon is reasonable and can accommodate a lot of people.Hotel Catalina is also reasonable and accommodating. Glemore Hotel is the only one I found that will book one night only, all others are 2 night minimum. As far as coordinator goes, Juliet at Catalina by Design (I think) seems good. I’m using a friend who is a coordinator so I’m not renting one for the day. Where are you getting married? I can help with contacts for transportation to and on the island as well as photographer, restaurants…. let me know if I can help! Congrats!

hmm….were in Catalina are you having your ceremony? if its on the beach…you will have a lot of passerby’s and onlookers, they have a really small beach at Avalon and there is NO privacy.   if you do it on the cliffs (at Buena vista) its a little more private.   For hotels, we love Snug Harbor Inn, their rooms are  quaint and lovely and still overlooking the beach.

Caligirl,: I hear you on the busy season. I sent the save the dates 5 months ahead of time and am sending the invites 3 months ahead. I thought that doing a destination wedding would discourage people from making the trek, but everyone’s going. I’ve been reminding everyone to book early or the only rooms left will be the expensive ones. I do know that if you have AAA or are a govt. employee i.e. fire, police, military you get a 10% discount pretty much everywhere as well as on the ferry. Where on the island are you getting married?
