So I just need to vent! My venue only allows one catering company to use. OK… that’s fine I guess. So FI and I went through the menus and decided on some really great things that we are actually really excited about. We picked our tentative menu and then started to have our wedding planner schedule our tasting for us. Come to find out, the want to charge us $25 per person for the tasting!!!! Now I completely understand doing this if we weren’t forced to use them. I would probably charge too. I’ve heard a lot of stories of people just going around to taste different food for free. In fact, I was told by someone to go do this as much as possible lol!!! I would like to mention that I haven’t done this.
Am I the only one who finds it completely ridiculous that they are charging me $25 per person to do a food tasting when I am going to be giving them almost $15K for food and bar? I mean like I said before, they are the only catering option I can use so regardless they will be getting my money.
I think the wedding industry just pisses me off in general. They like to suck every last cent out of you!

can you ask them if the money can go towards your final bill? i know it’s a long shot probably but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

@Soon2BeBee: I find it perfectly acceptable. Here the food tasting we were supposed to go to was 65$/pp. 😉

NauticalDisaster Wow! $65?! Craziness!! I think I am just irritated because it’s not like I have an option to go with anyone else. They are guaranteed my money either way.
luvbug080688 We are trying to negotiate paying $50 so four of us can taste. Me, FI and my parents….. So far it’s looking like it may happen so I’ll definitely be happy if they can work that out.
I am trying to be understanding and I am definitely not being a brat to the caterer. Just needing to get my frustration off of my chest!

@Soon2BeBee: yeah, that’s not cool. What are you going to do, use someone else? some vendor told me I needed to pay a non refundable deposit just to look at his contract. Obnoxious.

You’re lucky. We paid $40 each, for the bride and groom.

I think that’s ridiculous! Legal robbery!

@Soon2BeBee: we pay a tasting fee if we don’t book – I don’t understand paying a tasting fee if you’ve booked them…
