    Hello!

    We are planning our wedding in Maine from out of state and finding it difficult to find a reasonable caterer. Please...any suggestions would be wonderful! We are getting married in the Portland area.

    Thanks!!

    My caterer is based in central MA, but I'm pretty sure they travel to Portland. They did an AMAZING job, and I thought their prices were quite reasonable, compared to the other caterers I talked to. I got so many compliments on the food at my wedding! The only caveat is that I don't know what their travel fee would be.

    I am also getting married in Maine in June of 2012. I'm from Boston so we had to travel a few times to meet with various vendors. We're getting married in Bethel (Sunday River) Maine which is about an hour or so from Portland.

    Our caterer is PHENOMINAL and is from Saco so that should be fairly close. It is the Blue Elephant Cafe and the owners, Fausto and Reuben, have been so amazing!

    @cherianddana2012: As somebody who grew up just down the road from Sunday River (My brother worked there during high school) I want to say two things:

    1.) Beautiful venue - great views!

    2.) The drive from Portland is significantly longer than one hour - unless you're REALLY breaking some traffic laws! ;)  (It usually takes me about 2 hours to get to the Sunday River Rd on Rt. 2 from the Portland JetPort Exit on the Turnpike.)

    If you're just rounding for the 'net - Sorry!  But be careful about telling OOT guests that Bethel is "about an hour from Portland" or you could get a lot of confused people.

    @UmbrellaMoon:

    Thanks for the clarification. I mispoke- it takes me 1 1/2 hours to get to Bethel from Portland. Hopefully people are also doing their own research and not taking everything they read as the final word or else, you are correct- there will be some very confused people. Smile
