My best bet would be to ask around local resturants if they cater. I found that a lot of the local resturants do cater( even though it is not advertised) and its fairly reasonably priced per plate ( one place by me will do 100 ppl 9.50 a plate for encrusted chicken and sea bass). Also look in to wedding packages at the larger banquet facitlites since they will include the venue, and some center peices and cake cutting in the price ( low end up here is 5000 for good food) . I hope that helped!
From the Roanoke area, I would suggest checking out Center Stage Catering and Blue Ridge Catering. We ended up going with Blue Ridge and have loved them thus far! Our wedding is in a bit less than 3 weeks, so I cannot report on the execution, but the people at Blue Ridge have been great from the get-go. They listened to us about the type of event we were trying to put on, put together menus that would fit our tastes and that style, worked with us to make things fit within our budget, and more. There's no extra fees like cake cutting or cork. They have been great to communicate with and have helped to take a lot of worries off of my shoulders for the day-of.
