Totally thought this post was gonna be about swamp fishing, and I was all like “swamp fishing chat on weddingbee? I gotta check that out!” lol!

No, I have yet to encounter a “catfish.”  I have friends who “try a little/a lot too hard” on facebook (i.e., brag, brag, humblebrag, brag), but not out-and-out try to pose as an entirely different person.

Yep. I should probably go annoy for this but I’m already pretty annoymous on this site anyway-

On and off for 4 years, starting with I was 14, I had an online “boyfriend” who ended up being a GIRL. A GIRL. A FREAKING GIRL. She was only a year older than me and a lesbian. We talked on the phone, she changed her voice to sound manly. She sent me photos of a guy friend of hers…who was freaking hot!  Thankfully during this time, I still had a ton of normal high school experiences (had my first real kiss…with a real boy…. went on a few dates here and there, went to prom..again, with a REAL BOY) but still, this was a terrible thing to happen to me. I passed out when I found out. I was pretty dramatic back then. 😉

@Pinksapphire:  Omg I love that show! It’s my new MTV show to watch. I never realized how many people have a situation like this especially people they have been talking too for 10 plus years over the net!! Very interesting and entertaining! My fiance also likes watcing it. I have never had a catfish situation myself.

Yep I knew several people who did this to people I know. They were a girl pretending to be a guy justy because they wanted to know what it felt like to be a guy and fall in love with a girl the sad thing is they ended up having real feelings for the people they tricked but couldnt do anything about it. It’s REALLY messed up.

This totally reminds me of the episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Dee and Mac try to find a guy who shushed them at a bar… which leads to meeting his internet stalker… only to find that an old lonely woman stole the guy’s picture and pretended to be a man online.  And asked girls to mail him their hair.

But yeah personally, no!  I mean I’m almost positive that people I talked to on the internet (in the days when I was a stupid kid and aol chatrooms were still cool..) were catfish, but I would never have met up with any of them in real life.

And not to burst a bubble or anything…but many sources have confirmed that the show (and possibly the movie as well) is all fake.

I was pretty sad to hear that.  I was also sad to hear that House Hunters is all a set up as well (they already own the house they “choose” before taping even begins!).

@Pinksapphire:  We are hooked also! The only thing I hate is that it comes on really late where I live and I have to struggle to stay awake to watch the whole thing sometimes lol I watch way too many shows on MTV then I would like to say hahaha it’s such trashy TV but amusing. Yeah the 10 year plus one was nuts!!! I dont know how someone could put up with that for that long!

@Pinksapphire:   No word from him!!  He has stayed clear of both of us.  Although someone fired 4 gun shots out my bedroom window on Christmas night and I immediately thought it was him…

It seems like there are always GLARING signs why the person may not be who they say they are.  I mean, the guy that comes in on the tv show doesn’t do any amazing detective work!
