I would casually ask the deacon or priest if there is a “standard” or “desired” donation for the use of the church. They probably have a set amount but forgot to tell you. Ours was $250 so I would assume it’s something around that.

It’s a good idea to also give the priest a personal donation (or other gift) in addition to the donation for the church. If you know him personally and know his likes/interests, you could do something like sports tickets, theatre tickets, etc. that he would enjoy; if not, cash is always good.

In the absence of any set amount from the church, maybe you could peg it to some other part of your budget (i.e. give the church the same amount you spent on flowers or something).

It depends on the area I would call the rectory and ask what the general amount is they will typically let you know. we recieved a book that outlined everything and showed that the priest normally got 150 and the church 150. We are in an upscale area of Columbus in one of the largest and newest parish buildings so yes this seemed right to us. But say in NY it might be more than OH lol.

The information we got from the Catholic church we are getting married in suggested a donation of $400. It seems like each church has different ‘expectations,’ for lack of a better word, so I think the safest thing would be to ask.

We were suggested to donate $400 to the church. In addition we gave gifts/tips of $100 priest, $25 altar servers (2), $50 musicians (2)

I would call the church secretary and ask, because it definitely does vary from place to place. I got married in NYC. My church donation was $350 (we were told the amount) and we gave the priest a thank you card with $150.
