Could you make programs that explain how to follow along?
My FI and I are in a similar situation. We cut out communion because most of our guests can't take it, and we're going to make program booklets that have the order of the ceremony and all the proper responses. Hopefully, people can keep up by following the programs. It'll be a time-consuming project, but I know that the Catholic service can be overwhelming to someone who's never experienced it, so hopefully the programs will help.
I am not Protestant, but I attend Mass with my FI. In terms of prayers and psalms, they are pretty similar. Our priest knows that a lot of our guests are not Catholic, and he will be helpful in leading everything. We're also making sure that the people at the rehearsal know what's happening when, and they can help lead from within. I don't think it will be hard for people to catch on. We are not having a full Mass.
If you can, you should defintely make programs for people to follow along. It is really helpful, especially for those that don't go to any kind of church
Since your wedding is in 2 days (congrats!!) I wouldn't try to do programs. You don't need to add any stress at this point. Just explain the situation to your priest and ask him to try to lead the service witht that in mind. Our priest was really good about it and everyone seemed to follow along just fine :)
I just went to my best friend's wedding in October, where less than half were Catholic, and of those who were Catholic, most of them either did not know English or had not been to a Mass in years.
For those who don't know the Catholic Mass, a booklet isn't that helpful, but it's really not a big deal because who ever knows the response will answer and the people around do hear it.
I'm right there with you... we will probably have 100 guests and maybe 10 - 12 will be Catholic. We are having the full mass too! I feel it is a beautiful ceremony, and if my guests think it is too long, ... well... then they can just deal with it.
I'm going to try to make the elements of the mass clear in the program so hopefully that will help!
I would make a program, so at least they know what is going on. And if you let your priest know, he can explain things as he goes, I have seen that done many times.

Hi Bees,
My future hubby and I are both catholic, but only about 15 people on our entire guest list (out of 149) are catholic. We are not having a mass, but I wondered about how everyone will follow the service. Do people usually catch on with the responsorial psalm and the prayers of the faithful?
Thanks!
