I think the idea is super cute! However I don't use cds at all anymore. Personally I would appreciate the time that went into it, but I wouldn't want it.
This is kind of a dated idea. Such things were really popular about 12 years ago. Also, now there are so many concerns with copyright infringement that I wouldn't want to be responsible for involving my guests in breaking the law.
Thanks, ladies! I appreciate your input. It is kindof a dated idea now that I think about it. I was just focusing on it being "personal" and that's why I liked it so much. Hmmm... I wonder if there is another way to incorporate our love for music with a favor?
@SBJAXN2B: They might be too expnsive and I'm usually not a fan of non-consumable favors, but some companies make coasters out of recycled records, like these:http://www.amazon.com/Recycled-Vinyl-Record-Label-Coasters/dp/B003GDZ13Y
There are a lot of options, and maybe you could tie a tag to each one and use them as your escort cards too.
I like the idea of CDs as favors for your guest! It's very personal, takes time and effort, and I feel your guest will appreciate them. I would love to have a custom cd to remind me of the special day I attended! That's a gift the wont get thrown away or eaten and never thought of again. I was considering making CDs as my favors. Who cares if it's dated?!
I have gotten CDs af favors before and I never listened to them. Everyone had different taste in music, it's weird to get two cd's for couples that live together, and not everyone has a cd player anymore.
Most vehicles have CD players I would listen to it in my car
i'm doing them too! Good luck, and let me know if you find a good deal on CD labels. My guests would appreciate them because they often ask me to DJ t their parties. And adding our first dance song, aisle song and parent's dance songs would really be a treat for our parents.
I've only received a CD at one wedding as a favor.
I put it in and played through (quickly) a few songs then tossed it in the trash as it was not my style.
I think people's musical interests vary too much to make this a viable favor option.
A great waste of your time (most of all) and your money.
Just my 0.02 cents.
I am honestly doing cd's as favors as well! I'm incorporating the processional song (Canon in D Major), first dance song, etc. Considering our guests consist mostly of close friends and family, we've mentioned these cd favors to them and they loved the idea!

We are planning on making a Wedding CD with songs that we love that mean something to us in regards to our wedding and slipping it into a cute sleeve and having those as favors. We're using great music, not just lovey dovey stuff... considering that everyone has a different taste in music and that favors are typically over-looked or left behind: What do you think about this idea? It's relatively cheap... ~100 for 200 cds. Is that a lot? Would you want to take home a cd of our favorite songs? Should I go for something else that can be prettied up like homemade jam with a fabric swatch on the top??
