At what weight did you start using your diapers, or at what weight did you find they fit a little less awkwardly? I’ve tried putting her in them twice now, once at around 8lbs and other around 10lbs, but her tush is so big in them that it raises her legs off the floor. I’m trying to figure out if that ever really goes away, and if I should just suck it up. She is currently about ~12lbs and I’m nearing the end of my box of size 1 disposables, so I’m going to try again. I’ve read that they sometimes fit more comfortably around 15lbs. What is your experience?

We’ve got all Kwaiis. They were waaaaay to big at first – he was 6lbs at birth. We started using them when he was around 8lbs even though they looked a bit ridiculous. But we’ve been using them no problem and now he is around 12lbs and doing fine. They don’t leak and he doesn’t seem bothered by them. It does make some clothes not fit well but that may be true for any cloth diapers, not sure, this is my first time 🙂

envirobride: thanks for your reply. I’m going to give it another shot next week. I’d really like to get out of the disposable diapers. Her pants are all a little big, so maybe a fluffy bum will help 🙂

I have both Kawaii and Alva, as well as two different typs of AIOs (I haven’t noticed the Kawaii or Alvas fitting any differently or bulkier than the AIOs, but she did wear only the AIOs for awhile). DD has been in cloth full time since around the middle of January, by which point she was 3.5 months old — when we finally ran out of size 1 disposable diapers. Of course I can’t remember how much she weighed at that point …
By the time she started in the Alva and Kawaii (which was right after my ill-fated diapers at daycare thread, whenever that was lol), she was big enough for them to be snapped to the middle length. Now she wears them all the way unsnapped to the longest setting, because I was getting mad about how annoying it was to stuff the pockets when they were snapped down so I decided to give it a try unsapped. Lo and behold, they fit fine. Maybe try snapping yours out from the smallest size and see if that helps them to fit better?
Does your daughter seem uncomfortable with the bulky bottom? I never even noticed if DD’s legs were raised off the floor by the dipes or not … haha maybe they were but it never bothered her! Anyway I’m sure this is all perfectly useless but there it is.

iarebridezilla: thanks. Dd will be 3.5 once we run out of size 1s. Fingers crossed.
