I need some help deciding what to do.
Background Info. – When we booked our photographer the package included an engagement session, all day wedding photography, and a Finao wedding album. He did not offer the choice of a CD with copyrights to the images.
This week he offered us the choice of the Finao album OR all edited engagement and wedding images with copyright release. I don’t know what to do!!! I was really looking forward to the professional album, but was a little bummed I wouldn’t have copies of all my pictures..unless I wanted to order prints of 300+ pics…which would be $$$$$.
I am really leaning towards the CD, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to create a book online that will look as nice as the Finao. I know there are probably some great websites out there, but I don’t know where to begin.
Any suggestions or advice?? What did you do with your CD of images? If you have a professional book are you happy with it?
Help me decide 🙂

I would definitely go with the CD. No question. You will want to have all your pictures and the ability to make your own prints.
Yes, you can get great quality albums online. Also, you could wait a few years and save up, and then go to a professional to get a book done. Since you have the pictures AND copyright release, you can do anything with them.
I don’t have any advice on the best online photo book. I would just recommend researching a lot. Take it in small chunks – like you said, it can be overwhelming.

I would go with the CD. You could always hire a designer to make you a book in the future, or even just use an online service like PP suggested. With the CD you can do all your own prints infinitely forever. That is MUCH better value.

Oh, CD for sure. You could always have a professional put together a book for you in the future.

CD no question. In the long run you will get more use out of this than a book.

Definitely the CD. You can get albums made anywhere! 🙂

Agree with everyone else! CD for sure! If you were set on the album that he was going to do then ask if you can maybe have it done for your 1 year anniversary gift. That way you’ll have the CD so you can make a more affordable book on your own and have a year to save up for the “professional” album.

Thanks for all the advice!!! I know I will never regret having all of our photos. We’ve only seen the previews, but the rest will be up next week!! I am super excited!! I can’t wait to have some prints in my hands!!

i also would go with the CD. You can always get an album even in a couple of years if you don’t spend money on it now. You can look into DIY or making hiring someone else who can design it for cheaper. there are lots of options.

I’d also choose the CD with print release. Like others have said, that way you can make a photo album at some time in the future.

@chh11: use the cd. you can go to snapfish or something like that and make your own book 🙂

@vintagemodernbride: Please don’t get the book from snapfish if you go that route… just please don’t. Snapfish has the uncanny ability to make even the best photos look their worst.
@chh11: Have you considered asking the photographer if you could get a discount on the CD if you just added it to the package with the book? It would be all profit for the photographer if you added it on, and the photographer might be willing to offer it at a discount that way, which I would say would be the best value to you – having a great album professionally designed plus the photos on the CD.

I also vote CD. We got both and I designed albums for my parents. We just got our album layout for approval and I love it, but I also love the slightly less pro versions I created.

I would go with the CD. You can always get at quality album from your photographer later or you can design one yourself on a handful of websites (though the quality might not be quite the same as from your photographer unless you have a LOT of time on your hards or are skilled in design).

CD. There’s plently of other sources you can use to put together a professional book..and once you have the rights you can get prints anywhere.
