    My invitations girl sent about 20 extras... which celebrities write back?  I've heard the president and mickey and minnie - who else did you write and hear from?

    I'm commenting on this thread, because I'm curious as to the responses you will get. I've never heard of couples inviting celebrities whom they do not know to their weddings until I joined WB.

    @Brielle:  I was about to reply "huh?" and was so glad you commented first.  I have never heard of this either!  Is this something people really do?  I'm interested!

    The White House sends back a nice autographed good luck picture.  Here is someone's mickey and minnie response.

    @Brielle:

    @prisigtr:  Count me in as someone else who never heard of couples wasting invitations sending them to celebrities until I joined WeddingBee. Who cares if some employee sends a reply on their behalf?

    @julies1949:  Yeah, I agree...mine won't be super-expensive but I'd rather put that money into my food/flower/etc.

    @julies1949:  and @prisigtr:  I actually am a huge "paper nerd" and had a super-expensive, 100-percent-cotton, engraved invitation suite. With postage, my invitations were about $19 each, so, I likely would not have sent any to celebrities even if I had heard of this trend. :)

    I'm planning to send one to Dave Matthews.  And Stephen King. And a few others.

    If Stephen King showed up to my wedding I would die.

    @DrTeeth:  Apparently Stephen King writes back!  I found that on a few different blogs.  Dave Matthews is a good choice :)  Hugh Hefner supposedly writes back too!

    Having Stephen King show up to a party I had a hand in throwing would, seriously, make my LIFE.

    We had extra invites, so we sent a few off. We recieved a lovely note from the Pres, Mickey and Minnie, and Stephen Colbert. Hahah. It was fun to see what came in the mail while we waited for all the RSVPs to come in.

    I'm definitely doing President Obama and Stephen Colbert. I didn't know people did this, either but I think it's a fun idea.

    A couple in the UK invited the Queen as she'd be in the same town hall earlier that day.

    It's totally true!

    I've heard of people doing JK Rowling, as well.  No idea where they've mailed it too, but definitely a cute idea!

    Oh this is too exciting...I'm going to invite Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and, if the Prez is elected for a second term tomorrow-President Obama! I'll still invite him if he's no longer the sitting President though, just for giggles. Well, all of it's for giggles...not like these folks would come to a stranger's wedding...who sends them invitations...like a freak. I'm totally going to do it though, I don't even care!

    The only fun one we did was sending an invite to the White House. We got a congratulations cards back from President Obama and the First Lady (yes, I know they didn't really send it) and I was so excited. I'm a nerd. Sure it "wasted" an invitation, but we had extras and I thought it would be amusing.

    We got responses from the president and John Elway.  My husband is a huge fan of his/the broncos.  He literally sent a signed picture back, DH was over the moon happy!
