i went to my venue on sunday and did a mock table...i'm loving it but it needs some work...some ideas that we have are:

    1. staining the boxes to match the dark cherry color of the chairs
    2. using a sage overlay on the tables with white napkins to add some color
    3. changing the flower but we're not sure what to change it to, our colors are green (various shades from chartruese to kelly) and a deep red
    4. maybe adding an accent color to the beads (this may not be necessary if we add the overlay)

here is a link to pictures

any suggestions are greatly appreciated. i think we're almost there but it needs some work for sure....

oh and just to provide some context...our ceremony is outdoors at 10am, cocktail hour from 10:30-11:30 (indoor and outdoor), indoor reception lunch at 12noon....the venue is a golf course

I definitely like the darker box.  It make a big difference.

Will the table have silverware and glasses on it or just napkins?  Because one the table is set, it might not look so empty.

Perhaps keep the center flower white, but put red flowers tucked into each napkin?  (It may turn out to be a lot of flowers)

    Something along the lines of:

Or what about using some of the votive holders more like bud vases?  Then the additional flowers would offer color?

If it's in your budget, a sage overlay would look great.  It would make it look more finished, I think.  But if you get the sage overlay, I think you should leave the beads clear.  Staining the boxes sounds great, in the pictures you linked to the cherry colored boxes really looked good.  What about a nice red dahlia for the flower?  Here's a pic

I pretty much agree with the above comment, stain the boxes, green overlay and a red flower.  Have you thought of putting red rose petals on the table?  Depending on the overlay you could still use the green napkins, especially if it is a sheer overlay.

What about putting a metal pick in the green grass with the table number at the end that is matted in red paper?  Just a thought to add height and color to the table.

I love the grass, candles and boxes, great job!!

You can use something like this for the metal pick to hold table numbers or photos of you and the groom:

rosychicklet - thanks for the suggestions, i definitely need to find out exactly what will be on the table. we thought about using cootie catchers (in colored paper) on each napkin since flowers tend to get expensive...

yach - that is a really cute idea, thanks!

i agree that the staining needs to happen, it'll make things look way better, as well as the overlay. i am finding that overlays are expensive so if anyone knows of any online resources please let me know.

tcbride - my FH actually suggested we do red rose petals on the table or the grass...we actually did a mock with red rose petals just on the table and it was OK...i regret not doing one with the petals on the grass...also, it may have just been OK b/c we hadn't added the votives or anything yet...

thanks for all of your help! these are wonderful ideas :)
