I dont many ideas for you but Ill answer your question that YES sunflowers will look beautiful!!! They are a timeless, beautiful and classic flower!
Hopefully that helps a little? I google "elegant sunflower centerpieces"
Thanks! Those are some great ideas. I really want to make sure that I stay away from a country/rustic theme though since that is contrary to my "theme".
Sunflowers are really really pretty though!
I love sunflowers! They are truly my fav. flower of all times. I hate that I am not going to be able to include them in my wedding.
I don't know if doing elegant fancy formal sun flowers is going to be cheap. I think doing rustic sunflowers would be. The bouquet you originally posted has calla lilys and other orchids that are not going to be very cheap. Why do you want to go with sunflowers? Do you just want the color yellow, or do you think they will cost less?

I don't know if you want to go this purple, but I think these white tulips look great. You could also probably add some yellow tulips. But, I don't really know how expensive tulips are.
These are really great yellow and white bouquets that would look great against a purple bridesmaid dress.
This tall centerpiece might be too much for you, but it has about a dozen white tulips and white hydrangeas

SamsClub.com has Purple and yellow Tulips; 100 stems for 101.28? Really Pretty!

I have a request... I need to book a florist ASAP so I really need to decide on what I want to do for the centerpieces. I am trying to not go crazy with flowers-- even though I love flowers, I find centerpieces like this (http://weddings.theknot.com/Real-Weddings/40465/detailview.aspx?id=40465&type=3&Wedding+Details=Centerpieces&pageindex=14) beautiful, but at the same time over-the-top and not really what I want. My goal is to choose a centerpiece which is not going to be ridiculously expensive, but is also not completely weird such that no one would want to take them home at the end of the night. I'd also like to keep the number of flowers at a minimum; something tasteful but not too much. I like the look of ~flowers~ but not FLOWERS!!!! (if you can imagine that text being actual flowers)
I have recently thought about sunflowers but I'm not sure of how much they cost; I'm also not sure if they will have already bloomed in July in Ontario. The colours for my wedding are dark purple (aubergine), golden yellow, and (what I like to call) leaf green. The junior bridesmaids will be wearing lavendar so that works too. Anything purple/yellow/green/white I will love.
Also, do you think sunflowers would look OK at a formal wedding?
Any ideas/help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks. :)
