Here's what i'm thinking:
1. Plumerias
2. Curly Willow
3. Styrofoam blocks wrapped in shiny foil paper (or even crumpled up aluminum wrap, because i'm strange and like the look of it)
I loved the DIY centerpieces Ms. Lemon did with the Plumerias, candles, and glasses instead of candleholders. http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/07/24/diy-details-centerpieces/
However, prices for glasses at Ikea must have sky-rocketed in two years because i can't seem to find any for the price she paid for them. In order to do them I'd spend more money on the vases/glasses than what I'm willing to. Besides, after seeing the pictures of a few curly willow centerpieces I fell in love with the idea. Especially because of it's height! The Garten Verein, where we're hosting the wedding, has really high ceilings. I've read that low centerpieces can get lost in places with high ceilings. Anyway, I plan to make a mock-arrangement (not using plumerias of course since those will be flown in the day before the wedding) and will post a follow up on this topic later on.. wish me luck!
p.s. plus, as much as I love the candles, I'd be afraid to burn the place down!! hehehe.. nat really! it's really about saving $$ and getting more height in my centerpieces.. :D
