I would shorten the stems of flowers so that the arrangement is closer to the rim of the vase.
I like both of them separately, but I don't know that they really match each other. I would think oh they ran out of candle so some of the tables just have vaces (or vise versa).
My favorite of the two is the one w/ the candles.
@ashleyyyg: I think the candles will look great with pink petals. Many brides do flowers on one table and candles on the other.
@Goodatlove:They both have the same concept I think. The flowers will have candles as well with pink rose petals. The candles will have rose petals as well. I don't like doing all candles or all flowers. I like having a mixtures. More to look at then just one thing. And 7 tables are having the candles and 7 are having the flowers. The same flowers match both mine and the girls bouquets in a sense and they also match the ceremony flowers as well. I think candles are more romantic than flowers, but I dont want all candles I want some "life"
@julies1949:Thanks. We still have some sprucing up to do when we are actually there setting up, but I like having both candles and flowers. I love the lighting from the candles, but I think flowers give some life into the room.
I agree with shortening the stems of the flowers so that they sit flush with the vase.
Also, it might look nice to fill the vase with something so that you can't see the stems, or get a vase that's not clear.
Otherwise, I like them!
@MademoiselleL:We actually shortened the stems today and removed most of the leaves since it was kinda overbearing. We are also filling the bases with rocks at the bottom so it covers about an inch or two of the stems. The rocks are from Lake Michigan. They are soft, white, and smooth limestone rocks. Really pretty.
@ashleyyyg: Yep that's kind of what I was thinking :)

My FI and I have been discussing our centerpieces and initially we wanted all flowers with some tables having tall arrangements and others having short. After getting a price quote for a centerpiece with three cylinder vases each with submerged floral and a floating candle (which we thought would be cheaper since its only water, a candle, and one stem of flowers in each vase), they told us it would cost $85 a table. $85 a table?! We decided to make it simple and more cost efficient (in the end our wallet will love us more). We are doing two different types of centerpieces. Half are going to be candles with pink rose petals (it shows red, but that's what we had at the moment) and the other half is just a simple arrangement of flowers, similar to those in my bouquet, but we are using fake flowers for all.
We are having a destination wedding and the room has spectacular views from the windows of lighthouses and a lake. The last thing I want to do is to take away from the view.
Give your honest opinion and tell me what you think. The flower centerpieces will have votive candles and pink rose petals scattered along the table similar to the candle centerpieces.
