I just picked up on clearance 6 packs of black Charger Plates 4 ea. at target for under $2 for the set of 4. You could put a vase filled with fruit on them, and surround them with rocks, small smooth sotnes of some sort.

I’m actually planning to put white votive candle holders on it, and surround it with pink crystals of some sort as my wedding colors are black, pink and white.

Clearance sales are alwesome to pick up these little thigns at, I’ve going wedding shopping nuts right now 🙂

Good luck.

I bought those same charger plates. They come out to 1.75 per package and about 33 cents per plate! I was sooo excited I cleared out the store!~ I’m planning on using them for their intended purpose, but I’m going to stencil or stamp starfish, shells, sanddollars and palm trees on the rim.

I’ve seen people do iondividual cakes or some sort of desert at the center piece.  Then if you want something to cut,you can always do a 2 tierd cake, but one of the tiers is foam. I’m not sure how much more it would be than a regular cake though…  The only other thing I’ve seen are cool wine bottles as centerpieces, or doing something interesting with a menu.
