The taller the centerpiece, the more disconnected it is with the table and your guests. I would stick with the centerpiece you had planned and STOP looking at pics and second-guessing yourself.
Your submerged orchid centerpieces will be beautiful.
@French Manicure: I loved all your floral choices, it will be beautiful but if you are detailed oriented and it will provide ease of mind than go for it. Or better yet, take one of the already done centerpieces and see what it would look like before you make a big decision or if finances are not an issue Go for it Girl, you deserve to be happy and not what if I
I personally like your original idea. Stop looking at pics and thinking of other thins to do. I think your original idea with your venue will be gorgeous!!!

I love the submerged centerpieces. I personally don't care for the super tall centerpieces. It's awkward to talk to people around them. Don't stress yourself out last minute when you don't have to! You made a lovely original choice!

Maybe I'm the typical indecisive bride. I have about 44 days left until wedding day and I may be changing my mind about my reception centerpieces.
Synopsis: I am having 16 tables, of which I was planning on having on 8 low (hydrangeas, roses, orchids in 6” square vase) and 8 tall (submerged cymbidium orchids in a 20” tall cylinder vase). I am having a change of heart on the tall centerpieces. I feel that my venue’s ceilings are pretty tall and the cylinder vases won’t really have much of a WOW factor in the room.
I was thinking of switching up the submerged cymbidium orchids for an arrangement of hydrangeas and tall curly willows to match the height of the room more. However, the caveat is that I will have to pay close to $300 MORE to get these centerpieces. Is it WORTH the extra money, Hive? Please help!
**Note--I will have tall candleholders and votive candles surrounding these centerpieces no matter which one I go with.
Here are the pics: (#1 – my venue; #2 – original plan for tall centerpiece; #3 – new plan for tall centerpiece).
