@Future Mrs. JJ:I like it, especially since it's so unique. =)
Could you try it with something else under it? That black circle looks like rubber or something to me and really detracts from the natural feel.
@Amaryllis: lol sorry. yes that is a black place mat that will not be used at the wedding. It was just so protect the counter. We will be getting something else to place underneath it. like a runner or display miror.
@beekiss2: is this picture better?
I love how it is different but appropriate. I feel like it is missing something, but it might just be because it is on your counter.
The first picture had me totally confused--I was like, "What is that?" But the second pic is really kind of awesome!
i agree with statutory grape...the first picture left me wondering what in the world it was, but i loved the second pic...i would take the second pic home
I hate the concept of guests taking home centerpieces. I paid good money for them, hands off! Sorry, rant over.
I love this idea though. The first pic made me skeptical but I love it all lit up!
I voted that I liked it, but wouldn't take it home, more because I just wouldn't think to take home the centerpiece. I don't think that a mirror underneath would be appropriate because I think it would clash with the natural feeling of the candle setup. maybe some sort of natural looking fabric or moss?
i agree that it is unique and i do like it as well...
i'm just wondering if the pic you took with it lit up is how it will look from a persons point of view sitting at the table?? i kinda sorta feel like the candle inside the piece gets lost a bit...
It's very unique. I do think something needs to be added but I am not sure what -maybe some bigger flower heads? Definitely keep the natural feel when adding to it, overall - I like it! I am such a mom for thinking this but...the rock doesn't get hot to the touch after the candle has been on all night does it?
I do not like it. I think it looks chunky and does not really feel 'natural' but more 'fishtank.' You can do elegant and natural.
If you want another idea, I would love to provide one. If you don't want one, don't read on. :) Do you have a Hobby Lobby or Pier 1 near you? Both have inexpensive cylinder vases, around 10-15dollars each. You could also scour craigslist, thrift stores, etc depending on your timeline. To get FI involved, you could have him collect river rocks from outside. I see your wedding is in NC, you could also do sand/driftwood. Fill with water, bunch together, and then place a floating candle on top. You could really put anything submerged inside and it would be beautiful. Also lets the light shine through and appears less 'chunky.'

I hope that I have no offended you. I think it's adorable that FI got so involved and is helping out so much! That's so sweet of him.

My FI and I have spent so much money so far on the wedding we don't really have a large budget for what we have left. One of those are our centerpieces. Our venue is beautiful and elegant. We are having it indoors, but we wanted a natural feel.
My mom and i have mixed feeling, my step dad and Fi like it. It's growing on me cause my Fi made it and the fact its unique. I would like your opinion?
Do you like it and if you were at a wedding and were allowed to take it home would you want to?
Night wedding. Ballroom has several chandeliers that light up the ballroom so elegantly at night.
Before it's lit up (FI took the pic but didn't make it look presentable)
After (with lights dimmed as it would be at the venue)
