I did a trial run for my centerpieces this weekend.  I did a few different setups; what's the bees favorite way?

Centerpiece Trial (with pics) what do you think?? : wedding P1010047

This is a close up of the flower vases (would be w/o beads) (also I told bionic james i'd post this pic to show the flowers really do stay 'sunk' all on there own!)

    set up with vases/votives

    set up with scattered beads

What do you guys think?  We're having white tableclothes with aqua colored overlays (like the color of the runner), and I think I'll also put a orchid bud in each napkin.  Also, each place setting will have our favors (pink/aqua personalized M&Ms) wrapped in ivory tulle circles tied with aqua ribbons.

That should be lovely.  Are you doing beads around all of the vases or have you not decided yet?

I love the centerpieces.  The scattered beads just adds that little bit of extra to it.  Great job!

VERY BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm doing something similar with the submerged flowers so I'm a little partial ;) Definitely eye catching and LOVE the colors!

I don't know if I'm completely in love with the scattered beads (def like them but don't know about love) but I do think you need something more than the vases... have you tried a 12x12 square mirror maybe? Would be a beautiful reflection esp with the candle light!

    GREAT JOB!

stargal - it's actually not a table runner, I wanted something the same color as my bridesmaid/flowergirl dress to drag around when I was picking stuff out, so I went to Joann's fabric & just bought a yard of fabric.  That's all that is.  I'm going to rent my tablecloths though.

Ms. caniche - it's actually just the clear pebbles you see at almost every store in the vase section (with flat bottom & rounded top).  If I go with the beads, I was thinking about ordering some diamond confetti...just couldn't find a bag locally to see what it looked like in person

Beautiful. I love that color of orchids. I like the example with the beads the best. I'm not sure why either because I'm not usually wild over sprinkling things. However it seems to really pop with the candles and the fushia orchids and aqua runner.

I'm with Habibah, its beautiful but I've seen people try it with mirrors to get better reflection with with candle light.  I think you should try it just to see what it looks like.

I actually like it without the crystals sprinkled around. I think there's more of a focus on the beautiful flowers.  I think everything looks so beautiful!

I am usually not a fan of DIY centerpieces....but yours look great! The runner contrasts with the flowers, making them stand out a bit more. Very lovely.

Normally I like things to be more simple and clean, but I'm actually digging the setup with the scattered beads.  Looks very nice!

I don't like random things strewn about the table (such as the beads), but it is a personal preference. My mom keeps trying to get me to use scattered beads on my tables :) With the place settings and butter dishes and salt and pepper and everything else, I don't think the beads are necessary.

Are you putting the beads in the bottom of all the tall vases?

I love those!! You did an awesome job. I am glad to see that the flowers stay under by themselves, because I wanted to do some.

WOW thats so funny! That's exactly what my idea was for a centerpiece except I have white flowers and turquoise beads. Either way, I love it!! definitely with the beads too, adds a bit more :)

I love the one with the scattered beads. I also love the color of the table runner. I think having the table runner is a great idea to split the space up and it adds a lot of color.

Jacqi - I wasn't going to put the beads in the bottom of the vases, I was happy they stayed down on there own now I can fit more flowers in each vase (it was just a sample to see which floated or didn't float)

I think it looks great either way, but I prefer the look without the beads, so the focus is more on the flowers.

I've been thinking of DIY-ing centerpieces like this, too, and just wanted to ask - are you buying your orchids locally or through a website like 50 flowers?  Also, will you / your friends and family be doing the set up the day of the wedding, or will staff at your venue be doing it?

Great job - they look like they were done by a pro!

These are all absoultly GORGEOUS! I am just wondering, where did you find the floating candles that large? I am planning on using floating candles, but i have only found the small size!

ChiCat - I'm planning to get the flowers through an online site (maybe whole blossoms, sams, growers box?) (I read some poor reviews of fifty flowers online even tho they have good prices/big selection, I just didn't want to risk it).  I'm going to get all the flowers trimmed to the right length before the wedding/vases filled with water and then ask one of my family members to set it up last minute.  I have 12 sets, and we're staying at the resort we're getting married at, so I think with this picture it will be fairly quick for them to get it set up.

JennyS - I got the large floating candles at 'quick candles' vendor thru Amazon.  They were the only place I could find them that large either.
