I think it's a cute and clever idea. I think it would work better with other flowers though. Roses are so straight and so formal, they don't really lend themselves to that sort of flower arrangement. It would be much more straight up and down.
I would try it out though with a mockup to see if you like the look. If the roses are cut short and all the same height it could look great.
I would place a round sticker on the inside of the lid, thanking your guests for attending, or whatever wording you want to use. I picked the inside of the lid because the top of the lid is prettier on it's own. Youn can tie the lid to the neck of the bottle with a narrow ribbon hot glued to the edge of the lid.
@julies1949: I didn't think of the roses being stiff. I'm definitely new to this whole thing, so thanks for that tip!And I was thinking of the same thing for the lids, the inside would be more unique than just stuck on the top.
The more I think about it, the more I think it could look great if the roses are lined up like this.
I couldn't get this pic to load.
@julies1949: Not a big fan, I prefer something less uniform
Oh! Perhaps I could put a label of the kind of candy it is on the lid instead!
Are you stuck on using roses? You could use other white flowers and get a look more like your inspiration pic.
I'm not sure yet, I love the roses, and I plan to buy in bulk, I think I need to try a mock up, maybe buy some cheap silks just to get an idea.
I'm now looking around and thinking two hydrangas per bottle would be nice, all of them arranged in a circle together.
I think that roses are too stiff as stated above. Have you looked at Ranunculus? It has a rose like bud but the stem is kind of curly which makes it a little more casual and would look perfect in those bottles.

@scadadle15: Oh those are very cute, and a bit whimsical, which is sort of the theme I am going with for the reception. Those would look great all together, like my initial example. Definitely will be looking into that.
I was considering making a tiered centerpiece with these on the bottom, the next row have my pinwheel/name tags, and then a small bouquet on top that is also the table number. But I need to draw it out and look at all the dimensions.
If I do the tiered idea, I will be using just one large rose on the top, like this:

@WestCoast: Thanks! I am really looking forward to making them!

I want to make a centerpiece that is made up of candy and roses, to double as favors.
So, I am thinking of combining these two things:
Use my white roses and put one or two in each bottle, with black and white candy in each bottle as filler.I could use a water tube and cellophane to keep the roses and candy from touching. And different candy per bottle, so the guest can choose their favor.
I just can't decide to cut a hole in the top of the jars, or maybe use them as something else, that way the guests can close them after the flower is removed.Maybe as tags for the bottles?I am also planning to have a bottle of bubbles and a windmill for each guest as well, maybe I can incorporate the lids there?
Opinions? Suggestions?
EDIT: I forgot to mention, they are just old Frappuccino bottles! I drink these all the time!
