Are they bar-height tables? If so, flowers or tall centerpieces would make it really tough to see. I would keep it suuuuper simple, something like candles.

It’s nice to do something simple to jazz things up.  We had a cocktail reception with mixed height tables and I wanted to keep costs down.

We used glittered pinecones in silver dishes and put votives around them.  Simple and very cheap, but time consuming (I must have glittered over 150 pinecones).

    What’s the theme/colours/etc?

    How big are the tables?

You probably don’t need to go all out, but you should at least do some candles or soething I think. Without place settings or centerpieces, the tables would look really bare.

@hopestruck:  If you’re having a vintage theme, then you should look into DIY mercury glass candle holders, they look really elegant and there are tons of tutorials out there!
