I think mixing green and pinecones in is fine – i assume this is for a winter wedding.  Have you considered wrapping a piece of ribbon around the vase?

trevino24:  Why don’t you spray paint them?  You could spray paint the sticks too.

trevino24:  I agree with amberback:  I think you should put a navy ribbon around the vase. It already has a lot going on, but I nice quality ribbon would “soften” it up a bit and give the pop of color in your wedding colors, tying it all in.

It looks fine and won’t clash…..but I think it’s the branches that really need something, maybe crystals or light-weight lights or spray paint or faux berries? Something so the branches don’t look so bare.  And then either leave the base the way it is, or I like a PP’s ribbon idea.  Or maybe lights where you’ve put the pine cones, so they illuminate the branches?

Maybe lights like this??  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009HVSATG/ref=s9_hps_ft_g201_ir02?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=1MBXJ8MCEM2861624ZXY&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=1882824942&pf_rd_i=1000965411

trevino24:  Maybe at the top so you can still see the other elements

trevino24:  I think just painting the branches makes it look instantly more modern.  I would paint the branches grey.  If it were me, I would nix the leaves and just do pinecones.  I think pinecones spray painted either navy or white would be nice.  Navy would stand out (and the white material in the vase is enough to separate it from the navy linens) but white would provide simplicity while still having a texture difference between the pine cones and the other material in the vase (sand?).

I think the ribbon could go anywhere. Could also use decorative tape… washi tape… glitter tape… But do whatever you love! I think it’ll look great either way. I was just trying to think of a way to add some navy/charcoal onto the vase.

Here are some ideas.

I love those painted branches!

I also love the look of a pinecone-only vase. You can mix/match your centerpieces. They don’t all have to be the same!

You could also add ornaments in your wedding colors.
