Is it truly "selfish" to want a small, destination wedding vs. traditional?

    Hi girls!

Are there any Central Coast brides here? I see Santa Barbara weddings and Fresno weddings, but I know there has to be others besides me who are planning weddings in San Luis Obispo, Pismo, Shell Beach, Avila, Arroyo Grande, Cambria, Morro Bay, Cayucos, etc.?

If you're out there, what's your venue? Let's talk local vendors and anything else on your minds! :)

Hi! I'm planning a 100-person wedding in Pismo Beach... from way over in Pennsylvania (!).  My fiance officially "asked me out" when we were still college under the Pismo Beach pier, so we're coming full circle in our relationship saga. We're having a ceremony on the bluffs and the reception at Steamers of Pismo, but other than that, everything is still up in the air. Hope the planning is going well!

    Yay! Someone posted!

That sounds great! What a meaningful place for you to have your wedding. We're having 100 guests too, but it's going to be in my fiance's grandparents' backyard in Arroyo Grande (just south of Pismo.) Steamers is one of the places we're looking at for our rehearsal dinner though!

    Best wishes! :)

Hi!!! I am in Paso Robles. We are getting married at Holland Ranch in San Luis Obispo, which is really more Edna Valley. How is your wedding planning going?

Hi Girls!!  I am getting married (expecting 160-ish... fingers crossed!) in San Luis at Tiber Canyon Ranch and planning from Phoenix.

Future Mrs. Awesome, my fiance and I check out Holland Ranch last summer.  The view/scenery is unreal!!  Such a cool venue!

Which caterers did you ladies decide to go with?

We are going untraditional, Jaffa Cafe from SLO (Mediterranean food) and Noi Thai food from Los Osos.

where is the Tiber Canyon Ranch?

FMIL is bumping up our guest list, if everyone comes with a date we are at 290 but more realistically it will probably be 175 (I hope) hahaha

Tiber Canyon is off of Price Canyon.

I didn't realize that Noi Thai had catering capabilities, but I am sure it will be amazing!  I wish I had discovered that place sooner than I did.  And I have heard really good things about Jaffa Cafe, too.

Yeah, guest counts are tricky.  We are inviting approximately 220 and hoping for 160.

My son and FDIL are getting married this summer at the Shelter Cove Lodge on the cliffs overlooking the ocean.  The reception is going to be in the white wedding tent next to the ocean at the Pismo State Golf Course.  We talked the ceremony venue into letting us have a few guests than the 100 persons limit they advertised ( more like 200...hehe!) by shuttling guests from a local park.  They were mostly concerned about parking, not the size of the area for the ceremony.  We have to rent the extra chairs too. The golf course tent (40 x 100) holds up to 225 so that's not a problem.  The food is catered by the Fins Restaurant that is right at the entrance to the beach.  The rehearsal dinner is going to be at Firestones in SLO, their favorite college hangout.  Can't wait!!!

Yay! I just noticed that people posted on this thread! (Before I was Miss Turtle, i was bri the bride!) I know all of your venues well and can't wait to hear more about your weddings! I've always hoped that the Central Cali board would come alive! How exciting!

Anyone other Central Coast brides lurking out there?

    Noi Thai and Firestones- YUM!

Turtle!  I didn't know you were Bri the Bride...  It is cool to make the connection!

Have you ladies booked hair and make-up?  I am trying to do that now.  I had trials while I wan in town, but wasn't super happy with them.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Side note, if anyone is looking for a place to stay for the wedding night, the Casitas of Arroyo Grande have like 94 5-star reviews on google.  I figure you can't go wrong!

Hope all is going well with planning!

Oh my gosh, I didn't think that we could have more than the 100 guests at Shelter Cove Lodge! I'm going to ask about that right now.  I've been agonizing about keeping the guest list so small... Thanks for the tip futuremominlaw!

We are going our rehearsal dinner at McClintocks in Shell Beach. Another option would be Guisseppe's

Hi everyone! I am a Central Coast bride as well planning our wedding for next Spring (May 2011). We are hoping to use Tiber Canyon Ranch as our venue for the reception as well :) We went to a glass blowing open house a couple of years ago and fell in love with the place :) And its so beautiful that you don't have to worry too much about decorations! We are getting hitched at St. Pauls in Pismo so its just a short drive down the road...
