Although my wedding is not in PA (we're having a destination wedding in my home state of Hawaii), I have (and am currently) been living in good ol' Central PA for the past 10+ years. I totally am in support of having a Central PA board! We're waaaaay too far from Philly and Pittsburgh to share local tips.
It always amazes me that we (Harrisburg) are the capitol of the state, but we always get lost in the mix. There has been a huge revitalization of the city and it has been fun to watch.
I agree with nejireta, we are just to far from Philly and Pittsburgh to really get in on the vendors.
Yey for Central PA! I'm in Lancaster and didn't really feel like I fit in with the Philly board. Haha. I live here in PA, but getting married in NY. I guess I could get on that one too. But holy map, it grew since yesterday!! We might need to be able to click on the map to make it bigger, it's what the 3rd day since the local boards started? But definitely a great idea!
Hi all! The boy and I live in Philly, but am planning a low-key brunch wedding on July 2008 wedding in Lititz, Pa (FI's hometown), so I'll probably be on this board as much as the philly board. Thanks so much for getting this board started!
Lititz! My FMIL is from Lititz, and fiance's grandparents live there, I'm about 15 minutes from there and giving Wilbur buds as part of my favors Way better than Hershey's and the people at my wedding in NY will have no idea what they've been missing out on!
Yay for a Central PA board!! Thanks, Mr. Bee! I'm getting married in State College (my hometown) in December and currently live in Houston, TX.
Most of my big things are set - still looking for a photo booth rental company. So, if any of you have used one and/or know of companies that will travel or based around State College, let me know.
We are having a photobooth as well. Check out partybooth dot com. They are a national company so I know they can do State College. I thought their rates were really resonable.
Why, thanks KatieB, I'm also pretty pumped about it. The buds have also become the universal gift for my parents for birthdays, mother's day, father's day, etc. Since buying them in bulk is so cheap (not the case when they're not in bulk), the whole thing with the personalized box is like 45 cents per person. So I am also stealing Mrs. Lovebug's charity idea. So everyone gets a little bit of this and a little bit of that
Since we've dated for over 6 years, I've spent many, many weekends in Lititz with his family. I could never have imagined a cuter town. We're actually having our ceremony in the gazebo in Lititz Springs Park, right next to the Wilbur Chocolate Factory and his Mom insists on putting some Wilbur buds in the out-of-town welcome bags:) The pretzel factory in town is pretty awesome, too
I haven't been to the pretzel factory, pathetic, right? Haha. Although, in my defense, I've only been here a year and a half . Lititz is a great little town. I would definitely do Wilbur buds in the OOT bags, I'm sure we'll put the extras in there!
Hi y'all! I grew up in Lititz and am getting married in Lancaster next year! Close to booking the venue (definitely a barn somewhere!) but I am so excited to find this community of fellow Lancaster/York brides! For my catering I really want Prudhomme's Lost Cajun Kitchen in Columbia...
july09bride: I went to David's Bridal in York for my gown (it's near the mall). There's an Alfred Angelo over here in Lancaster on Fruitville Pike. And I know there are a bunch of small specialty shops. Oh, and also Donecker's (in Ephrata, which may be a bit far for you) www.doneckers.com is going out of business, they have some really nice things, so everything may be on clearance. Might be worth the trip!
Somewhere lost between Philly and Pittsburgh is an amazing place that all gets lumped together as Central PA!
