Hello, I am writing for any ideas/suggestions that may be out there for alternatives to singing (which would be a negative (:) or reciting a poem for my fiance on our wedding day.  I am looking for something more unique but am drawing a blanks over and over.  I also was looking for alternatives to unity candles or sand.  Thanks a bunch in advance!

We did a 'tree' unity ceremony with dirt from our parents homes and we will now plant the tree at our home.

The tree one is lovely. Our site/circumstance didn't let us. But Spanish culture usually does a lazo/bow type thing they tie around the two of you. Maybe you can look into it.

The entire wedding ceremony itself is about unity. That is before any mini-ceremonies such as candles, sand, etc.

One option is a handfasting, and if the couple is religious, it is still done but not called a handfasting. I'm not familiar with any others.

I love the tree/soil idea too!

I've been looking for something unique as well. I think it just adds a nice touch to an already amazing day and ceremony. In lieu of the standard sand, rose, or candle lighting ones, I recently had a brainstorm to do some kind of handprint thing..... along the lines of a clay or plaster imprint we could do up there, let it set, and engrave it with our names and wedding date.... I'm wondering if JoAnn's or Michaels might have a kit or something for adults (I know they do for kids) that would be easy.... or maybe there is something out there online. Anyone know?  Opinions or other ideas?  Just want to do something cool!
