Hello, I am getting married at an outdoor venue called the Oodenna circle. Were expecting 200 max guests. The venue holds 3900 ppl standing so its quite large. We have debated on having guests stand as our ceremony will be short and casual with seating for elderly family. We dont want to spend much for decor as we expect a 15 minute ceremony. Need ideas backdrop? no backdrop? rent plants? any decor ideas are great! …. Also i am thinking ill walk down the site ramp instead of the stairs.

@jenpritchard86: I would have seating for everyone. If nothing else, have seating for your guests. They will likely be there more than 15 minutes and if for some reason you are late or running behind (which is known to happen at weddings), then you guests could be standing for a very long time. Most people arrive 15-20 minutes before the start time anyway, which means those people all in all will be standing 35-50 minutes, some may be in heels or unconfortable dress shoes.

I agree, chairs for everyone. As for decor, it is a stunning place so you really don’t need anything. Maybe two floral arrangements to delimit “the altar” location.

@jenpritchard86: This pic shows the structure around the circle in more detail.
If your guests are going to be seated around you in a circle, I would keep the decor low – on the flat concrete structures between the speakers. You can use anything that goes with the look that you want- baskets, plants, log stumps, branches etc
You could use shepherd’s hooks along the ramp and repeat whatever idea you choose for the circle.

@jenpritchard86: i’m with you on the short ceremony/no chairs thing. we are having a very short and sweet ceremony, so we only having seating for elderly/older family in the front…its a big money saver and no one seems to mind as they’ll be served a cocktail as they come in to sip as we exchange vows!

@jenpritchard86: I think it would be thoughtful to provide chairs. People may arrive early, so would be standing some length of time no matter how short the ceremony if there aren’t chairs. Is there a chance of poor weather – if so, what would you do for cover?

@jenpritchard86: I’m making coffee filter pomander balls to hang on the pews in our church. They’re quite a bit of work (considering I’m making a lot of them), but they’re really beautiful. I asked my brother what he thought they were made of and he said “rose petals” lol. Really they look more like carnations — plus they’re very inexpensive to make. If you wanted to do something like this feel free to PM me and I’ll tell you how I did it.
