Hi everyone, I could really use some ideas for our ceremony. Neither me or FI are religious so we will be having a civil ceremony conducted by a humanist celebrant. We’re both from different ethnic backgrounds too (Irish and Indian). We can basically do whatever we want for the ceremony – which is giving us far too much freedom I think, and making it harder to decide. On top of this, my FI does not want any readings or commitment ceremonies (unity candle etc) – he says it just feels too contrived. (And I’m ok with this)
What we both would like to do is include our parents in some way. They’re happy to be involved, but I think my mum at least is nervous about being in the spotlight. I was thinking that we could ask each of them to read out a short blessing – just a line or two with their wishes for us and our future. Does that sound ok, or can anyone give me any other ideas.
