We’re getting married in July on the Central Coast of California. The ceremony will be in front of this tree. Any ideas for ceremony decor? We’re thinking succulents and wildflowers for blooms. We’d like to be able to transfer the ceremony decor over to the reception. Thanks!

Tell us more about the mood of your wedding. What will the reception site be like?

You could hang paper lanterns all over the tree – that would be pretty.

Mood of the wedding is California Casual. Completely outdoor. 100 year old farm house. Chalkboards for signage. Succulents for favors. B&W dance floor. No real color scheme. Just bright yellows, oranges, pinks, and purples. Here is my dress. Thanks for your ideas!

I LOVE your dress! All the ideas sound amazing!
I’m not sure if this fits into your mood, but my very favourite decor at an outdoor wedding once that I attended was that they made a heart shape out of white shells (or rocks?) on the green grass. They stood in it to get married. Maybe you could do the same around the whole tree, including the part that you stand inside?

Maybe it’s the house I see on the side, but I think a yellow theme would be nice.

Use a simple barrel to hold any paperwork etc-hang ribbons and flowers from the tree
I’m not sure what is at the base of the tree in your pic.
Will there be flowers growing there in season? If not, I would cover the ground with something- petals, leaves, potted plants…
Here’s one where they built an arbor under the tree
For this vintage wedding they hung empty frames from the tree-instead of leaving the frames empty, you could use copies of your families’ wedding pictures
I would love to incorporate a log or a slab of wood with a heart burned into it with your initials. You could belt it onto the tree with leather straps, rope etc
