I just got an email from my ceremony location advising me that not only is my wedding coordinator leaving, but the company who owns the property has gone into liquidation and is being managed by the bank… yay
I called the company who are currently in control of the property and they said they are honouring all contracts and a condition of sale on the property would be that all contracts and deposits are honoured. He said the sale wont go through by July anyway so we should be ok… but its still scary!
Should I start looking at potential new places and loose my $375 deposit, or do you think I will be safe?

@Bears-bub: I’d work on getting that guarantee in writing from the company in control of the property, or speak with them about receiving your deposit back. I’d be cautious with taking back your deposit and dropping without some sort of back up in mind, though. Best of luck, this has to be a good bit stressful! Thankfully you’re still 8 months out, so you’ve got some flexibility.

@indibee: I have managed to get something in writing saying my wedding will not be affected and as above I do have verbal confirmtion it *should be ok… but I am still a bit freaked out by it. Fiance wants to pull out so I think thats what we are leaning towards. I checked my contract and I think I will loose my deposit, but $375 is a small price to pay for peace of mind!
I have already started looking at different locations so if I find something I like and can afford, I will go with it. Sooo glad it happened now before I committed to colours and decorations!

@Bears-bub: Very true. At least you’re not wrapped up in the idea of this place yet. If you do find a new spot soon, maybe you can sweet talk the new company into letting get at least part of your deposit back.

oh my goodness. I honestly think if this place is not 100% your DREAM venue… I would look around because I would be a stressball!!! I know money does not grow on trees, but 375 is not THAT much in comparision, I would at least look at other venues!
