I kind of wanted to leave music on during our ceremony, but very very light, you know just in the background. My wedding planner thought this was a horrible idea so I was wondering if anyone has ever been to wedding where it’s been done? Thoughts?

I’ve never seen it done.
What kind of music were you thinking? And what type of venue are you having?
Honestly I think it’d be a little distracting as the important part of the ceremony is hearing the couple say their vows.
If I was at a wedding where that happened, I’d probably wonder if someone missed their cue to turn the music off.

Our venue is a hotel so our ceremony will be in a sectioned off part of the ballroom. I was thinking soft jazz. Our whole ceremony is very romantic so I thought soft music in the background might be appropriate. I just hate it when it is super quiet….

I would say no, but it’s your wedding and if you think it’s the right choice, then do it! I have to agree with KatNYC2011 – I would likely assume someone missed the cue to shut off the music and would spend some time craning my neck to see if someone was trying to fix the problem!

I agree with PP about maybe thinking someone forgot to cut the music. I wouldn’t say it’s a horrible idea though because I’ve never seen it done so I don’t really have experience to go by!
