We used Fairmount String Quartet and they were beautiful, but slightly pricey (~$1000 for 2 hours). If you have the money though, definitely go for it. They learned music that wasn't in their repetoire for our ceremony and played well past the 2 hours when the cocktail hour went longer than it was supposed to.
Thanks for the recommendation. I have checked out their website. It does not appear that they play contemporary stuff. We want the classics for the ceremony but more popular music and jazz for the cocktail hour.
No, they play contemporary...have you looked here? Click on Popular Repetoire.
Have you ever thought about asking around at one of the local universities such as Temple? My brother is a music student and is always getting asked to play at weddings. Usually students are very affordable and can play a wide variety of music. I know I am going to recruit some of his friends to play at our wedding!

HI Bees! Can anyone recommend a good trio or quartet to play our ceremony and cocktail hour? It seems like there are so many out there with such a variation in prices.
