Aw, that is funny! Don't be mortified, it was probably really cute to see as a guest. You were just happy to officially have your hubby, no biggie! Glad it went well, can't wait to see some pics :)
As a guest, these moments are always my favorites. One of my college besties just got married, and her now-husband took a long breath before repeating the vows--it sounded to us like he'd forgotten her name! When it was her turn, she was super prompt about repeating his name in the vows, like "well, I remember your name even if you don't know how I am." It was super cute and SO representative of their characters. As a guest, I thought, Yes! These are the two people I know and love getting married.
Makes it real :-)
I went to a wedding where the officiant misplaced the groom's handwritten vows (it was the officiant's first wedding. he was a friend of the couple and I think became certified just for their wedding). The groom had to make them up on spot. I later heard it was sort of a blessing because his vows were two pages long. He's known for being long winded lol It ended up being the best part of the ceremony though and probably the part that everyone remembers. Dont let it get you down :)
Aw! That's sweet, but I know how you feel.
We had a 3 minute Vegas ceremony (seriously! it was great since I am so nervous!) so I had hoped I wouldn't screw up, but alas I did.
When I went to put the ring on his finger, I had a blank moment and physically went back and forth (with my head and/or upper body, I haven't rewatched the video) 2 times between his left and right hand. The minister even started to point to his left hand, it was like 3 seconds but felt like an eternity! I can't believe I did that, I know, everyone knows, it's the left hand!
But it's done, and I laugh still about it. :)
Aww, that's a sweet story, and nothing to be embarrassed about! If it makes you feel better, I also interrupted our officiant half way through his questions by exclaiming "heck yeah, I do," followed by him looking at me funny, and then continuing on with the questions before I could say my real "I do."
My husband did the exact same thing. :) I loved it, and in retrospect I wish I'd then done the same thing intentionally to show solidarity (and to continue the mirth everyone got from that moment). We were just so happy at that point, to me it seemed perfect to have a little bit of reality in the formality of the moment.

Yes, I seriously did this. I could not believe it. I was so nervous leading up to the ceremony. It had to be pushed into the barn because of rain and things were shuffled around so quickly. It felt very sudden that I was walking down the aisle, which wasn't big enough for me and both of my parents, so my dad was stepping all over my dress. My heart was pounding and it felt surreal. I tried to calm myself when the officiant began speaking and just focus on my now husband, ignoring the fact that 120 people were staring at us. However, I became very nervous again when it was almost time to say "I do" and before she finished repeating the series of phrases and questions, I just blurted it out. She said "wait" and people laughed, and I laughed, but I was mortified. I felt a wave of disbelief wash over me - like here I am, at my marraige ceremony, which I have been anxiously anticipating for 9 months, and I just did that. When she asked the question finally, I made a joke of it and acted like I wasn't sure whether I would say it, and everyone laughed pretty hard. It actually ended up being funny and something to talk about. My husband loved it, because he said it was so "me" to have done that. Turns out the back half of the room didn't hear me say it anyway, and didn't know why people were laughing. Anyway, hopefully this makes nervous bees feel better because you probably won't do what I did!
Besides that, it was a wonderful day, even despite rain. I will post more later!
