kellykapoor : that is so gorgeous Kelly! I am thinking if we all go outside for a group photo, the majority of the flipping would be done. Some people will probably stay outside but some might filter back in and I’m fine with that. We have a coordinator and catering staff so I think they can flip it pretty quick!

- Wedding: March 2018 - The Venue, Barkisland, UK
Our venue is all one space. They’re able to screen off the ceremony/reception space whilst they flip it, leaving us with an area by one of the bars.
The venue will be well used to flipping and I’m sure they’ll be quick and efficient!

I’m a picky, crabby old woman, and I’ve been to fabulous weddings where the room was flipped, and there was nothing tacky about it.
If your venue is used to doing this, there will be no problem.
As a suggestion, if you happen to have elderly or differently abled guests it would be a courtesy to provide some seating in a comfortable area near the reception area.

I’m doing the same thing. I’m getting married at the John James Audubon Center in PA July. If the weather is too hot, we’re having the ceremony in the barn and the cocktail hour there too. Everything should be flipped in 5 minutes. I see it as a big plus that my venue is so flexible with doing that. I don’t think your guests will mind. They’ll probably be taking pictures and mingling with guests during the switch anyway!

I just posted this on another thread so sorry for the repeat photos, but this is exactly what I did for my wedding and it worked great! We had the ceremony, went out to the patio for the cocktail hour, they flipped the room, and then we came back in for dinner. I was super stressed about it too but the staff had done it a million times and were total pros and the whole thing was seamless! Plus, so many people told me they appreciated being able to park their cars once and be done for the night (rather than moving between ceremony and receptions venues). As a bonus, your room is absolutely beautiful and will look great for both! I think you should put your worries to rest sweet bee! 🙂
